Cut joystick?

So I have a pair of joystick ski poles, but i want to cut them down a tiny bit. The problem is, i do not know how to get the handle grips off. So does anyone know how to get them off, or some tricks to help me get them off?

heat gun.

heat the pole not the grip so right bellow the grip

Throw in em a hot water for a minute or so and just pull em off. Just cut down my joysticks last week.

10/10 to u sir. That worked like a charm, i stuck them in my sink for 2 minutes then puled them right off!

And getting them back on? do they cool down to fit?

K, so I just cut down my joystick poles and I took the strap off before putting them in the boiling water because I read somewhere that I should...now I'm having trouble getting the strap back on, can anyone help?

I didn't pay much attention when I was taking them off and don't really know where to start...hahah.

its only one screw in the top to hold it in. Put the strap back into its little slot, then screw the screw back in.

as long as they're not the ones with the cork grips you should be all good. i tried to cut my cork grip joysticks down and ended up boiling the cork right off the grip, revealing a plastic tube that had been glued on below it. i ended up just cutting the plastic tube off and salvaging some old grips from a different pair of poles. moral of the story don't cut down cork joysticks if you want to keep the grips.
