The 2011-2012 Terrain Report Thread

Well I thought I would make a thread so it can connect NS on terrain reports of various resorts so that people who are traveling can ask in advance what the terrain is like and what to expect. This isn't a thread on "Park Updates" but for all mountain terrain, as I know that NS does park updates but not whole resort updates or that I havn't found out yet. Since the beginning of the season isn't what we thought it was going to be, I would like people to use this thread to share their knowledge of their home mountain and to answer questions of people about other mountains. I think this thread will be a valuable tool for NS as it could give advice on where to go, where the powder is at for the people who travel or just all around which resort is having the best week for snow. Also dont be afraid to post snow reports in here too, that would be very helpful :)

**Please note this is not just for "Park Updates". Sure you are more than welcome to post how well your park is :)

For my example I will be at Breckenridge, Vail, and Keystone January 5-10th. I was wondering if any one has any idea how well the back bowls at Vail are, if even open at all. And also the runs on Keystone's back peak, The Outback and also with their snow cat services.

Park-  progression park and a medium park, featuring 2 jumps, about 35 feet to knuckle. Rails are up bar,down flat, and a lot of mini boxes.

Schweitzer Report:

Good base but Icy/ crusty due to lack new snow.

Entire mountain is open. Park has a couple features up (Wall ride, log rail, 2 FD rails, C rail, bonk, Urban)

the coverage is decent but i would still advise rock skis until christmas break

as for blackcomb (no idea about whistler) as of saturday, small 10-15ft jump, flat box, down rail, street styled flat rail, log job, weird mountain bike style jump, 25-30ft table, a weird/ terrifying 5ft table with a lip that should be for a 20ft table, 10ft table, mini pipe, small wall stall, flat box, donkey dick box, c-rail, street styled flat rail, rainbow box, flat box and a fat super fun flat rail.

This is going to be a shit show thread.

Best bet is to go with the regionals or single mountain threads here. There's too many places to lump them all into one thread. Especially when they all about the whole basis for this site.


football season, cars, phish, threads like that are only going to get posts from a certain percent of the whole. This thread will be a 75 page shit show.


Maybe op just wanted a big thread

I just wanted a question answered about the vail back bowls and the outback at keystone really. And while I was at it, I decided to make a thread about it so people could post the same questions as I did since you always have the risk with traveling and sometimes not knowing the conditions there since it isnt your home mountain. And I post in regionals a little bit, but dont seem to get that good of responses out of it, oh well.

Just thought I would try to help out, but if its too complex/confusing/ or shitty just let the thread die no biggy! :)
