Hot to build a jump in the backcountry

What's the best way to build a jump in the backcountry??

But srsly...

Remember that nuggets are your friend. You want to dig down into the snowpack until you get to the point where snow is breaking off in big chunkies (ie more profound layered area of snowpack). Simply use the big nuggets of snow to build up the side/back/edges off the booter by stacking them one on top of the other. Make sure to stack and place in a uniform manner so that the jump will maintain shape.
Build up the edges then put the rest in the middle.

Blocks for sure. Build the shape out of snow bricks if u will. Then fill in the spaces on top with more snow and smooth it out with ur skis

you should def make sure you have enough speed from your inrun BEFORE building anything.

Choose your location carefully... also snowpack is important. If your 'quarry' (where you're sourcing your snow from for the jump) is epic blower pow you'll be digging for a long, long time. Try to find somewhere with a sweet landing but some naturally compacted snow nearby you can cut 'bricks' or blocks out of.

I always go with building a wall around the outline of the jump (back and 2 sides) out of good bricks then in-filling the middle with less compacted snow.

And don't skimp on the in-run, the best jump in the world is useless if you're backseat and sketchy because your in-run is off-camber and lumpy.

honestly just get a few people and they go up really quick. It doesn't need to be that big if it's a step down, just build it based on the landing/takeoff. Make sure to try and find a nice steep landing! Take the time to shape it and make it look nice and pretty so you feel awesome about the jump before hitting it.

grab a shovel. pile up some snow, obviously make it into the shape of a jump. Slide out the run into the jump. Maybe wet down the jump a little so it can freeze and harden and you wont ruin it by hitting it.

Make the outline out of heavier compacted blocks. Fill the middle with light powder. Don't worry about compacting it. Also put a ton of wu tang on the end to make sure it will give you a ton of radical air.

step 1. dig up block of snow
step 2. throw where you want the jump
step 3. repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have a jump...

that road gap = balls. Good work, sir

And if you can find the right spot, it's super helpful to have a down flat down type of slope.

Down for the run,in then build the kicker on the flat so you're gapping some of the flat and landing with the slope of the next down..... Like a park jump
