Top Sheet Protection??

I picked up an old pair of skis to make a shot ski. when i took off the binding there wass a protective tape similar to the clear tape you see on ipods iphones etc. i was wondering if they still made anything like that anymore?

To protect my mountain bike i use copter tape, it's like a thick sheet of clear sticky tape. it's waterproof aswell. Could work with ski's?

this is the stuff i use but not sure if they post outside the UK,
