nice that americans place their news outlets on one level with poland, bolivia and russia.
their standard should really be some other countries.

in democratic western countries, its pretty nice to have a state-owned tv/radio station. just because they are generally a tad boring and conservative (not in the right wing sense, just in the keep it simple way).
and they get mad shit for every mistake they make and the state is not controlling them. they dont have to fight for audiences, so they dont invent shit or downright lie about something.
and the privately owned news stations know that people trust the state owned news and just add a little celebrity stuff or baby-seal crap every here. they know that if one such story comes up, noone will probably watch their news anymore because of an unbiased and legit alternative.
i dont know a lot about the US media market, but i am pretty sure that there are no state-owned tv stations that do not have to fight for audience or sponsorships.

our local news team reported the grad prank last year. they filmed and showed damages that the school sustained years ago. what actually happened was the students ran around in shopping carts throwing fruits. mimicking mario cart.
its stupid how some people can make such a big deal out of everything. those people should be removed from the gene pool

Not many people take Fox News seriously. Only the crazy old grandmas. But this is ridiculous. Fox news hits a new low.

What are you talking about? They've been a bullshit "news" station from the start. They never had any validity.

That doesn't make any sense at all, bro. A more logical rewriting of your argument would read: they don't have to fight for audiences, so they are free to say whatever the hell they want. The problem with media bias stems from the people who make the news, not if the company is privately owned.
