Not Another Hellbent Mounting Thread

But sadly, it is. I have plowed through the archives of NS and TGR and there does not seem to be a consensus on where to mount them. I bought the 2012's, length of 189 and I'm going to mount them with FKS 180s. I am 6'3" 180 lbs. I was thinking about + 6 from traditional or -1.5ish from true center. I will primarily be skiing forward with these but I do like to throw spins, huck cliffs and charge lines. Someone help me get off the fence about where to mount these puppies. Thanks in advance.

so youll be going forward on these about 95% of the time? Definitely mount a bit back, 1-2 inches is fine, especially on a 189. Theyll still be just fine switch. If you go TC you might go over the bars landing cliffs more than youd like.

Yea, I don't want to mount all the way too TC which equates to about +7.5 traditional.

Classic NS response. OP said he almost always skis forwards, so mounting true centre is a dumb choice.

I'd probably mount them somewhere around 2 cm back from TC. You don't want to be too far back on them either. It seems that you already have pretty much the right idea on where to mount.

my EP Pro's are mounted like 1.5 cm back from center or something like that. I think the rocker pattern is somewhat close to the Hellbent. I love the mounting point, i get the versatility of skiing switch and having a lighter swing weight but i still get that extra bit of float..

i ride 189 hellbents mount 2cm back and i orignally had them mounted TC it was fun because it made the skis seam shorter but it created too much length in tail and i found myself steering with my heels and feeling too forward in deep snow

what the fuck how? I could ski grabbing my tips in deep pow and still not feel too far forward, cause they never fucking dive. Never.

All personal preference. I ride the 189 and +5.5 from the 'Traditional' mark and love them there.

I don't think so - on my 179's it looked like it was around 5-10mm in front of core center but we didn't spend too much time working it out.

My 79's are mounted at +6.5 and are tons of fun there. They have so much float you don't really need to worry about that aspect (in my opinion) and the improved balance of having them close to center makes them really fun for just playing around on.

That said, I also skied a pair (179s too) mounted at +3 and they could bulldoze pretty much anything.
