I got my hands on a Sony handycam for pretty cheap, so I'd like to try filming this season. What gear do I need, how should I be set up? I know just the basics of filming, so give me some tips? Any help would be appreciated
- Look around the internet
- Read your manual (if you don't have it download it)
- Shoot on manual, focus manually
- Shoot as much as you can
- Get good stabilization (tripod, dolly, glidecam)
basically whats already been said. use manual settings only and force yourself to learn it all inside and out, it will help make you that much better at getting the best quality possible. also, a good tripod will last for a long time and definitely worth the investment. just play around with shooting everything in every condition at first just to get used to the camera too so when you want to make an edit with your friends they arent getting pissed at you while they are waiting for you, trying to figure things out (that was me once) so just get real comfortable with it for all conditions and know all the buttons because they will all come in handy eventually
