Be a man and join the libertarian party. So many people think this way, yet no one does anything about it. If we combined everyone with libertarian principles we could form a formidable 3rd party and get good conservative candidates into office.
i agree with Obama theyre shouldnt be loopholes in tax brackets, but thats for EVERYONE. lower flatter rates. (dangerously close to saying 999 lolololololol)
Wow this thread definitely isn't a republican hate thread in a shitty disguise. Shouldn't you be off wasting the governments money with Occupy Portland or something?
I wouldn't say that, a lot can happen between now and April. He's currently polling 2nd in Iowa, which is a large state. Obama was far behind Hillary in the primaries for the 2008 election, and out of nowhere he surged to win the presidency. And what played a major role in Obama winning? The youth vote. Ron Paul garners significant attention from the youth.
No kidding, I'm saying by then a lot can change. Obama polled far behind Hillary at this time of the primaries for the 2008 election. A pole on December 31, 2007 had Hillary at 42%, Obama at 23% and Edwards at 16%. After the Iowa caucus Obama surged to take the lead from Hillary. Before that point not many people had Obama winning the election. My point is just because Ron Paul's behind in the polls doesn't mean he's out of contention, and a vote for him is certainly not wasted. This election is still up for grabs.
I actually don't think he'll get nominated, but I think he has a much better chance of getting nominated than people give him credit for. And I think one of the biggest reasons he won't get nominated is that a lot of people who like Ron Paul won't vote for him because they think it's a wasted vote. But if everyone who actually thought that way voted for him it would be a different story (and I'm not saying he would win if this were the case, but his numbers would be much much higher).
As far as I'm concerned, the GOP race will come down to Perry and Romney. Gingrich is in it now, but he's going to be his biggest opponent due to his past. Anyone that thinks Ron Paul has a chance- hahaha.
really though, reagan seems moderate compared to the jokes that are currently vying for the GOP nomination. really reagan was only fiscally conservative
The Republican party would never let him get nominated. Hes not a Republican, hes a conservative. Like actually a conservative, not some pseudo conservative who wants small government where its convenient for him. Businesses, who we know run politics in America, would never allow the Republican party to put him in, they need the lobbying ties they have now, and they need free handouts from the government when they please, theyd get none of that with Paul. Sure hes for a free market. But lets be honests, business doesnt want a free market, they want a free market to do what they please, while getting help from the Feds when they are gonna fail.
That 1985 Reagan speech was so inspirational to people.... no fucker reaches out like that these days and says "here's the tools, go for it, take a chance".
It's such partisan bullshit these days in America. Democrats are so far left, and Republicans are so far right - nobody can see that the majority of America sits slap bang in the middle.... these people do nothing for the country.
And im British - that's just my observation from living here! But that Reagan speech inspired me....
I WISH HINKLEY KILLED THAT SON OF A BITCH MABEY NIXON STARTED IT, BUT THAT BASTARD FLUSHED THIS COUNTRY DOWN THE TOILET. FUCK RONALD REAGAN, FUCK REAGANOMICS AND HIS GOD DAMN WAR ON DRUGS. I WISH THAT FUCKING MOVIE STAR STAYED THE FUCK OUT OF POLITICS AND I HOPE HE SUFFERED EVERY SECOND HE HAD ALZHEIMER'S.
While liberals complain about special interests while taking their money, and complain about Republicans and their overbearing laws for the sake of "defense" while they vote for them. Politics sucks.
Actually its not. I do hate the tea party, and it annoys me that so many of them repeat things they don't understand without doing any research (and their proud of that fact too). Obviously this is only one example of Reagan saying this, but so many people make him into a neo-con god, when really he wasn't extremely conservative.
