Hellbent Vs. Line Mr. Pollard's Opus Vs. JJ?

Looking to grab a new set for the quiver. Iv'e already got a pair of elizabeths for park/groomers, center mounted bentchetlers for light to modrate pow days/spring/backcountry jib, and arg's for deep pow/steeps. Looking for something as playful as the bents, but can still hold its own when itcomes to big mtn riding. Any thoughts on which way to go?

From what I've heard and seen, go with the opus. The new tech in that bad boy will make it smooth as a shaved leg.

I have heard few people complain that this & last years Hbent is just a little to wide. The Opus design kinda goes with that & is more versatile. I would go with the Opus.

How tall are you? Weight?

Can I add in Surface Live Life? Medium stiff underfoot, with softer tips and tails. More of a traditional rocker powder profile as opposed to the other Surface skis (New and One Lifes). Incredibly versatile. 110mm in the waist at 181, or 120mm at 191.

Or for a waist under 115mm, check out the One Life. Stiff, 3 stage rocker, kills it everywhere. 112mm in the waist. I love mine, it was my one ski quiver (exempting park, didn't ski park at the time).

From what Ive heard, they are all obviously good in powders.

The jj's have a really far back taper so on groomers, if you are using them all mountain, they are going to be pretty squirrely. they also have have a really high rise on the early rise so if you are a fast skier, they might flop a little. although they have a couple issues on the mountain, they are definately great on powder and the lightest and really poppy compared to the other two at 115 underfoot.

the opus skis are going to be your all mountain ski hands down. the way that eric designed it was so that you can go fast without the high rise so it doesnt flop, the taper isnt to far back so they hold and edge extremly quick and well, they have the early rise set pretty well so it is great in pow with 118 under foot, so they are great all mountain. although they are so good, line has a history of making a flimsy ski, even if it says stiff. so if you are dropping cliffs or a heavy guy, might want to think about it.
the hellbents are going to be your backcountry park (as in freestyle) skis. they are absolutely astonishing in powder for the 132 under foot. they have been known to be a bit intimidating for the width but they are only a powder ski. I have heard they are extremely squirrely on the groomers. although they are only powder, they are amazing and will never fail. they have an extreme shovel on the front at 161 so it is just pop pop pop like there is no ground underneath you. if you are an extreme skier dropping cliffs and making back country jumps, these are definately for you. they have a crazy rocker in both tip and tail so you can land switch just as easily as straight. they are also extremely stiff under and have flexable tips for all of those cliffs. If you are an advanced skier who is only looking for powder skis, get these. don't hesitate. seriously. these bitches are fucking badass.

The 2013 Atomic Automatic is something you need to check out. Stiffer tail than your Bent Chetlers, more energetic and less planky than the Hell Bent, and a lot lighter than and more playful than the Opus.

The 2013 Atomic Automatic is something you need to check out. Stiffer tail than your Bent Chetlers, more energetic and less planky than the Hell Bent, and a lot lighter than and more playful than the Opus.

You obviously do not to shit about the opus, i agree about the hellbent but the opus defines playful and is no heaver if not lighter that the automatic. The only playful atomic skis is the chetler. You also talking about a ski with less than all- terrain rocker in the tail, which is, not playful, basically directional if skiing in pow. The automatic is stiff and is meant for charging big lines, by no means this is a bad ski but not the ski you described it as. Get the Opus its a great ski, dont know much about the chetler but stay away from the hellbent, i have only had bad experiences with the ski.

Ill second this for sure. The automatic is a directional charger that is no way in hell more playful than the opus. For one it's not meant to be, and second is the opus is by far the most playful ski ive ever been on. If youre looking for a charger then definitely look at the automatic but playful is Opus. And I just picked up the 2013 Influence 115, Looks great and Cant wait to get on it, check it out too!
