I tried searching for a thread like this, but couldn't find one that exactly answers my question. I recently purchased the 2012 atomic punx (173cm). Im purchasing bindings soon and am lookings at the Salomon STH series.Besides the differences in weight, what are the advantages and disadvantages between the STH 16, the STH 14 Driver, the STH 12 Driver, and the STH oversize. Which one would you recommend for me? I plan on skiing 80% park. im 5'11, 181lbs. The way Salomon explains them on their website is kinda confusing. Thanks!
Well, the 12 Driver, 14 Driver and 16 (also has driver toe) are all pretty much the same except the DIN range. The higher the DIN range though, the slightly more durable they get. The STH oversize doesn't have the driver toe, which makes it far less durable and more prone to pre-release. I'd go with the 14 Driver for you, keeps the DIN range lower (you probably don't need the 16), the weight fairly low, and the durability will be pretty good.
Above is almost perfect. The 12 Driver and 14 Driver are identiacl other then the spring. The Heel on the 16 is identical as all the other sth's and the only difference is that the toe has a metal height adjustment collum unlike the plastic of the 12 and 14.
