You seem to be focused on inflation but I don't think you fully understand inflation, most people don't. People think "omg" inflation = bad, my dollar is worth less. This is true, but most people don't know why inflation can be good.
Why can inflation be good? Why does the fed target inflation at a rate of 2-3% per year? The answer to this question is investment. Inflation discourages people from saving because it devalues their currency, this encourages investment, which encourages growth rasing gdp per capita. Imagine if we had deflation every year, people would always keep their money, hurting the economy. Also it fuels exports and other stuff but the first point was the main thing.
http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/historical-inflation-rates/ I'd say this shows inflation has been in check the last couple decades. Also notice when was the last time we experienced deflation over multiple years /cough depression.
I standby my comment about the media but understand your point, they've always hated our economy less the Reagan years imo.
What bubbles are you talking about? Subprime, commodities, dot.com? If you are talking about the subprime what should the fed have done? That thing sprang up very fast and the fed reacted fast, they couldn't let all those banks die. Blame congress not the fed for not cleaning up wall street.
