im sorry i usually dont call people out but sense you were so arrogant about your delivery im going to have too. that in no way was anything close to a tail press. it looked cool but i wouldnt call it a tail press. the skier barley slid any of the rail on his tails.

Haha miscommunication buddy, were arguing for the same side. I would consider that a tailpress, leaning over the tails that crazy is a tailpress in my books. Just pointing out something I saw in the picture.

He slides a portion of the rail on his tails. Sure, he rocks into it, but it still is considered a tailpress. Maybe I was a little arrogant in my delivery, but I honestly haven't seen in videos that I know of a tail press that's that far on his tails, other than the one that my friend did.

Skiing isn't snowboarding. Things aren't the same. Can snowboarders do hippy killers? No. They're different fucking sports and the two sports do stuff differently. That's how it goes.

i'll agree that the most legit tailpresses slide behind the binding, but everyones gotta start somewhere. as long as you lock into a balance point that is further back then right underfoot then your doing something different then a regular railslide.

But they are the same trick; sliding on the rail on your tails. They're just executed differently due to the equipment we use.

When sliding down a rail on your tail or nose it's a tailslide or noseslide.

snowboarders and skateboarders call it a tail slide so then by that definition is should also be a tail slide on skis. honestly i hate calling tricks by any name but for the sake of a good argument i would like to put in my two cents.

sorry for the multiple post, i have never posted a picture in a forum. BUT presses are sick, i love seeing it mixed in with other rail tricks. Honestly, i suck at rails, i cant even do a switch up, but i did this a couple years ago.

I think to do a good tailpress you can't sit down on the bindings because it brings your center of balance back too far inside. Maximum lean distance is achieved with knees bent at 90 degrees.  As here:

the way skiing is portrayed on this website from all the edits posted and what not just makes me want to stop skiing all together and start snowboarding again. Seriously every edit on this site has the same bullshit tricks in them (k feds,way too many switch ups,or ridiculous spins on or off rails). Then of course once there is a decent edit uploaded with presses/creativity its get rated to shit by the pre teen tall tee steezers.

I'll try and justify this... (not trying to claim)

My friend took this picture of me and told me he put it on Newschoolers, I loved the shot but It's clearly not a tail press as the title suggests, I do enjoy getting low on rails and thought it would make for a good shot on one of the only features we had to work with.

I was even more stoked when it made the front page but knew a lot of kids on here were going to hate because it's titled "Tail pressin'" which is not an accurate description. I'm sorry some of you hated this picture so much...

Hope we can all move on from this and eventually the secret to a legit tail press will be revealed.

I also hope Newschoolers will stop being so angry and anal once the snow is falling everywhere... there seems to be more and more hateful angry people on this awesome supposedly happy shared interest site.
