Replying to Should students be paid for the grades?

Just came back from finishing my written final (coolstorybro)and the topic was to debate if students should be paid based on academic performance, but only to like the top 30% of students. I thought it was a good idea based a couple of reasons

-makes school feel like a job unlike just another chore
-promotes competition to achieve the best grades
-increase in secondary education population

idk those were just some I could remember had a lot more...but it's a Saturday morning so I'm still dead. So what do you guys think?
