what do you think? right, or wrong? I think it's wrong that he could be fired for this.

He willingly entered into a career that comes with a lot of sacrifices. One of those sacrifices at least in my mind and HIS, was that you won't be able to teach kids after. Thats why he lied by omission on his resume/application to get the job. He made his decision to do porn and lied to avoid the consequences.

call me crazy but I don't think a lying whore is a good role model for kids.

the guy had been teaching high school english (the most worthless course in school) for a couple months and everyone in here is acting like he's irreplaceable

hahah well with that argument you can end up justifying murder or whatever else you feel like talking about at the moment.

idk why you guys are on some noble quest to change the world's view of pornstars when thats not really the point. maybe the world should view them differently, but it doesn't, so fuck him for trying to go around the 'rules' and getting caught and potentially losing a job he never would have earned honestly in the first place.

What if I don't agree with the majority of people on certain subjects? Just because my opinion is different means I'm wrong? I feel that's what you are getting at. From what I've seen he was a great addition to the faculty at the school he was working at, so why should his past have an affect on that? Everybody has shit in their past they want/are trying to leave behind them. This is a case where I feel he is deserving of a second chance. Everybody has sex, it's human nature what does it matter if he did in a way that wasn't breaking any laws?

1. yes. please. as far as i can tell the two have almost nothing to do with each other, beyond both involving people and that kids who become people eventually have sex. if it was the sex on kids industry i'd see your point, but its not.

2. english is the most worthless subject in school? right because people use in depth calculus, algebra, geometry, biology, chemistry, physics, history, and foreign languages all the time, but no one ever reads or writes...okay.

3. you're saying that, because people have preconceived notions about something, and everybody says it's true, it's true? so then you must agree that slavery, the holocaust and the killing of all those native americans during colonization, and segregation/discrimination was ok? i mean thats pretty much the exact same reason all of those things happened...for the most part.

4. you shouldn't be so quick to judge. for all you know the guys goal in life was to be an english teacher and the only way he could pay off loans for college/grad school was to do gay porn.

I don't think it should matter at all that he starred in gay porn at all and long as he's doing his job. And if no one cares, why fire him?

I wouldn't think firing him is justified, but if he lied about it on the application, where it states that if you are found to have lied, your position can be terminated, they can legally fire him. Then again, the teacher's union would probably not allow a termination on these grounds.

Uh... no? Murder is bad because you are killing people with family, friends, people that care about them, not to mention the fact that you are ending someone's life... To be more broad, it's bad because it negatively affects people. Being a porn star doesn't affect anybody. Just the same as being gay doesn't affect anybody.


And by that argument, why do we like black people? Why did people try to change the views of black people in the eyes of whites? Yeah, I guess fuck black people for wanting equality - they have different colored skin so I guess they shouldn't be allowed to teach our children - they might corrupt their minds or something.

Ill ask you again. Why should he be fired? "Because hes a pornstar" is a not a valid response. And why is he a bad influence? Because hes gay? Because he has an unorthodox occupation that wouldn't affect the children he teaches in any way?

no its not really relevant to this topic at all as it was a response to two other idiots, read thru the thread you might disagree with me but Im pretty much the only one talking about this actual story, other people are going off on tangents about gay rights in general, the way pornstars should be viewed in general blah blah blah. they're too concerned with the way they think things should be and aren't really focusing on reality that,, today, in the US, the majority of people don't want porn stars around kids in school, look at what happened with sasha grey when she read at a school in a place as liberal as LA, if people there don't want it I think thats a pretty good barometer that the rest of the country doesn't want it either, and if the majority of people in a society don't want something to happen it shouldn't happen.

so what do YOU think then? beyond saying that majority rule is the best thing, why do you think him doing gay porn has any effect on the kids he teaches? especially since it sounds like he's doing a good job and his students like him. cause i mean really, if he keeps his private life separate from his work life i see no reason why the gay porn thing would make him a negative influence on students.

But aren't pornstars just actors when all is said an done? They are still people, he is the same person he would have been if he had not starred in a porno. Just because he was in an adult movie does not change his morals, respects, beliefs etc. and doesn't alter his mentality in any way. This is discrimination, it is prejudice against homosexuals and that is it.
