Pollard and his Prophets

Alright, so in the new FREEZE Pollard is all over the place, mostly in pics with the Prophet skis. Now don't get me wrong, his past in WSKI106 is one of the reasons I'm buying it and I think he is an innovator of style and switch skiing, but I think it just looks goofy for him to be boosting with these fat ass skis. For some reason it doesn't look as good to me as liek the cover say with Jon and skinnier skis.. Anyways start flaming on me now!

I think Jon is using Mojo's in that shot, so they aren't that skinny. But still the Prophets are huge, and its sweet he's got the inverse colors of his pro-model on his pair. I'm sure once you see the trick on film it will look dope.

I think prophets are a good idea, a 130mm waist isnt too far off, i mean look how the pow skis are heading, they get bigger and bigger each year, plus the snowlerbladers went around on 120mm waists, and snowboards are wide and weigh a ton. And now you can land pow jumps like snowboarders, instead of sinking in 2 feet when you land. Plus i had a dream i ski'd em, they were rad, ski'd powder very well.

That fat of skis is really un necessary, if he doesnt want to sink down in powder why doesnt he just ski a groomer...The whole point of powder is its soft and you sink down in it. What fun is skiing 6 feet of powder when you are only on the top 2 inches?

i think the huge skis look dope, and i give him so much props for thinking outside the box with those. they will really bring a lot of new tricks to the backcountry scene.

I think they look a little wierd, but that's just because i'mnot used to seeing them.

im sure they do open up a lot of doors in the bc, but i just dont like the look of them. it just doesnt seem to me that skis were meant to be that big, like these are some whole new thing. ill probly warm up to them when i see the dope shit he pulls on them, though.

i think pollard just wanted to have some fun with line and just make a ski that would be fun to use on certain days etc. but i think i read somewhere he's still sticking with the pro models/motherships for the season

I think that somebody just needs to split the difference. The biggest skis right now besides the prophet have a waist of like 105 and the prophet are 130. So make a ski that is like 115. they would be more managable and I doubt there would really be much difference between the way they ski and how the prophets ski.

i agree, i think it looks pretty dumb when he skis those. they dont even look like skis. i also think it looks stupid when people use super fat skis in the park. not saying it doesnt work well, i havent really tried, but it just looks out of place

who cares what skis you ski on. or what other people ski on.. if you are on the hill to look cool, then go buy some abergay a shit clothing and go back to middle school. skis are a board attached to your feet. skiing = the act in which one uses skis to go on snow and other nonsnow object. (my own definition.) use fat skis.

I think the 150 mm prophets are overboard. If you add up the surface area of two 150mm prophets, its more than a snowboard. I think the 130mm waist prophets were just right, those had just a little bit more surface area than a snowboard because of their length, and combined were the width of a snowboard.

Questions

Is it really a pro model if you dont use it?

How many people out there really need a 130 waist?

Will they even turn on the groomed?

Where are you mounting them 1cm to the inside?

I prefer my 115 mm waist skis on not as deep days and my 90mm skis for the face shot days. they look like a fun toy the Profets but there wont be much of a market for them at the price they will sell them at. ie Spatulas, bye bye

To me they just look like they would be really awkward to ride. You would have to keep your stance super wide to keep them from always bashing into each other. I got my first pair of fat skis last season and they only have an 88 waist and and I was always having trouble keeping the skis from hitting each other. Especially when spinning. Also it seems like the swing weight has got to be horrible with those things especially if they are over 175. That is a lot of weight way out from the bindings. They've got to be hard to spin with. But I guess Pollard doesn't usually do big spins so he probably doesn't care.
