hahaha are you kidding me? Bud, the fact that he took time out of his day to even message you on facebook telling you why he couldn't accept your friend request makes me think he is one of the more humble professional skiiers out there.

You do realise that what you are describing, springs from the preconceptions that people have about people from other countries/regions? You, pretty clumsily, describe perception of others as directly related to who you are, and what you think they are. I get your point, however that was not the way you described it in your OP. So, in conclusion, it does not have anything to do with how the perceived group of people were brought up, but everything to do with who the people perceiving them are.

My original post stated that they "come across as having an ego, even if they don't". Which, and I was saying it from a NA'ers point of view to another NA'er, is from what we perceive to be egotistic might be different from others, and as a result we might perceive them to be so, even if they don't have an ego.

And I disagree with your last sentence there. How someone is perceived has an equal amount to do with both the observers and the ones being observed. If the ones being perceived were not raised differently, there would be nothing to misconceive. I do agree, however, that it is absolutely not their fault if they are misconceived.

Finally, again, what I am describing is not about preconceptions. To have a preconception would be judge you, or any other person without actually having seen/spoke/other contact with them. What I am dealing with here is the way one person takes and deciphers a certain group of sentences/expressions, one might take it offensively, even though it is absolutely not meant that way and the person has no offensive intentions whatsoever. It is absolutely not the perceived's fault for being misunderstood, but the reason he is being misunderstood lies on the shoulders of both the perceived and the perceiver.

i gotta agree with the person saying that the brits oz nz ppl can seem cocky even if they are not. lots of them come over here for ski season and they act like they own the place, even if they are rly nice ppl (especially brits ppl)... its just the way they do everything, its not our style. in the same way that us euros see americans as being arrogant.

i feel like OP is an insecure pro-hoe 14 yr old who is pissed that a single pro didnt use their own PRIVATE facebook to accept a friend request from someone they've never met.

im pretty sure our little OP buddy also doesnt realize that Byron is also mainly a Pipe skier. Doesnt he admit somewhere that he's not good at slopestyle? like in some WoW episode?

I'm sure it's the same for any foreign nationality in your own country. We get heaps of North Americans over here for the winter and most of them seem like arrogant dicks on first impression. 90% of the time when you talk to them they're not.

The world would be a shit place if everyone was the same.

I dont see how the 1st video makes him seem like he has a massive ego. Hes trying to advertise Cardrona. The video wouldnt be very useful for advertising if he wasnt being ''out there'' and a but louder than usual.
