K2 Domains delamming

So I went skiing today and all of a sudden i noticed that both tips of the skis are delamming. There is separation between the topsheet/edge/base and the tip is literally about to fall off. Has anyone else had similar experiences with these skis and is it possible to get a warranty? They are last years models I can try to get pics up in a bit...

When did you buy them? If its less then a year and there is no obvious impact damage and the rest of the ski is in reasonable damage then it could be a warenty. However proberably your best bet would be to take them to a shop and have the tips reglued. It will hold really well if he done right and should not cost more then about $40.

Word yeah I don't really wanna go through the hassle of sending them back so I'll probably take them to a shop. I hope they don't end up delamming again though.

So long as you get sombody who knows what there doing, chances are they will be as strong if not stronger then when they were new. I genraly have to rebuild my park skis after about 6 months use (blown sidewalls ect) and genrally I then find they last longer rebuilt compared to new. Its because you can spend much more time getting one ski perfect, you spend far longer then a factory would as you only have 1 ski to work on, compared to making lots of production skis.

If they are less than a year old (doesn't matter what year they are, it's all about when you purchased them) they are warranteeable. Just take them back to the shop where you bought them and they'll take care of you (if you still have a receipt or any type of paperwork by any chance, they will help).

I got them off Backcountry.com and they said they would give me my money back. Should I contact K2 directly and see what they say as well?

Go with Backcountry, it'll be much easier to deal with them.

Backcountry.com has one of the craziest inclusive warranty programs I've ever seen. I'd replace them with another pair if I liked em.

Sounds good. Will it hurt to ski on them a few more times? I wanna go skiing this weekend and don't wanna be without skis.

That's probably the best response you could have given. They are the best in the work for taking care of their customers. You shouldn't have any problem figuring it out with them.

Yeah they have been an amazing pair of skis besides this durability defect. I really wanna get another pair but I hope the same problem doesn't occur again.

^true. OP, glad you can get this taken care of. but what did you expect? K2 skis delam like it's their job.

what? ive never seen a newer pair delam. they have the rivets which should completely prevent it.

from my experiences, k2 makes one of the most solid skis out there

This is the first I've heard of Domains delamming, so it must be a warranty issue I'd say.  Work with Backcountry.com and if yours were 10-11's, there is a good chance that you will get 11-12's as replacements (based on inventory).

Just a quick update on the situation... I sent them back and Backcountry is giving me a full refund! Can't beat that. Their customer service is top notch, thanks again for the input guys.
