Bent Chetler's or Rocker 2's

you can't go wrong with the Bent Chetlers.  I have skied them a ton and love them.  The Bents are 123 underfoot.  What type of skiing are you doing?  If you need something lighter and more versatile, you could check out the Atomic Blog too.  The Blog is lighter and 110 underfoot (a solid everyday ski and skinning option). 

Either way, Atomic seems like they have a better product than Salomon and are more focused on supporting progressive designs now and in the future.

I personally can't ever imagine buying the rocker 2s, salomon sat back and watched companies like K2, Line and Atomic come out with super progressive backcountry freestyle. Then copied their designs and through them on the feet of all their super star athletes when they saw there was a market there.

i made this exact thread in gear talk a few weeks ago. i'm really hoping to get someone who has tried both and can do a compare and contrast type of deal.

i just got the 192 bent chetlers with the marker duke... so I'm gonna have to go with bent chetlers

I have the bentchetler 2012 + atomic ffg14 center mounted it's just the best ski I ever had, i dont feel like they are heavy at all, and i use them as my everyday ski because they are really versatile even if they are fat the classic camber underfoot helps a lot when you dont have deep snow. Skiing switch in pow is just the same as in the park the rockers are doing the job for you.

yea they definitely didn't have any input from their athletes like mike douglas, mark abma, cody townsend, dane tudor, or sammy c. just took a pair of bentchetlers and put a new topsheet on them

you mounted them dead center? I've been trying to decide where to mount mine. I'll be skiing in Jackson Hole and I was thinking 2 cm back from center maybe

yes death center, its just personal decision im not saying its better or not but i love it like this.

though i love atomic, id go for rocker 2. so light and playful.

it would be the best ski ever if it was symmetrical and had slightly more rocker, esp. in the tails.

atomic's bent chetlers are actually so sick this year, I got to demo both and I loved them both. salmons rocker 2 is also sick. i really enjoyed the bent cheater better. It seems like salomon didn't do enough to make their skis number 1/

Firstly I should say I have owned a pair of 184 rocker 2's for 12 months but have only ridden Chetlers for a few days this and last season.

The rocker 2 is a great powder ski, its 142 - 122 -132 so not symetrical but it still skis very well switch. The rocker is symetrical in the tip and tail in lentgh and height so the skis feel very similar switch or forward. They are soft, I did have a few over the front occasions last season when I landed forward in heavy powder. However I had them mounted at +7cm (center) last season, and have moved them back to +4cm this year. This does feel better and is certainly better on the hardpack on the way back to the lift. On the hardpack they are surprising. When you realise the turn radius really is 26m you can actually carve them fairly hard on the harder stuff. In powder they are really playfull, they are easy to smear and scrub off speed, they float really well and give alot of confindence to attack stuff. The honey comb in he tip and tail really keeps the swing weight low and this really keeps the skis livly, there easy to spin and buttery on, and I have used mine in the early season park, we have had here.

The Chetler as I said I have not skied as much, but they are a great ski too. Stiffer then the rocker 2 and becuase of this less playfull but I would say there slightly more stable at speed. Ceratinly differnt on the hardpack, more like a GS style turn. Overal I would say they feel more of a big mountain ski as they were less playfull, but at speed and bigger airs there awsome.

The Bent Chetler is an amazing pow ski. Rides like a dream.

I've taken a few runs on both a few days apart and couldn't feel any big differences. I'd be stoked to have either.

Solomon's Rocker 2 are sick. I was thinking about pulling the trigger on these this year, but spoke with one of their reps. They said they have been so widely successful they are opening a whole line next year of Rocker 2's with varying waist sizes. They said they are thinking of about 4 variations going from 98 to about 130 waist.

rocker 2's and the chetler are an identical ski, chets have a smaller turning radius, unless you go to a 180 rocker 2 where you will be given a 115 underfoot.
