Now, I'm sure something on this topic has been posted lately, but I recently watched a video that really put into my head how serious this could be if the government got it's way.
(Yes, I'm purposely autoplaying this, you all need to watch it.)
You know all of those ski edits to various songs? I can almost guarantee that no one has bought the rights to use them, as a film-maker myself I don't even do that. But if the Government gets it way, so bye bye to the form of entertainment that we call "ski edits". Say bye-bye to an extremely large portion of just normal Youtube videos as well. I, personally, am a little worried because I have made edits with songs that I don't the rights too, and after hearing that I could face 5 years in prison for that, my jaw hit the floor. The internet is about to becoming serious business if you don't fight this bill. Say goodbye to torrents, music downloading sites, all of that. Newschoolers wouldn't even be the same.
I leave on the note that you should bump this thread, contribute in any way possible, and write your Congressman a note because I know that the NS community doesn't want this to happen as much as I do.
