I just used my 2012 LINE bacons for the last 4 days straight.
Here is what I found:
1: they SLAY powder. no doubt they can handle a surprisingly deep run pretty easily. They NEVER slow down! you get to keep all that wonderful speed through the heaviest, wettest powder.
2: they have decent stability on hardpack snow. I've ridden full rocker pow skis before, and they aren't nearly as scary on the groomers. as for jumps, they rock! the balance is unreal, and the swing weight isn't overwhelmingly heavy. And, they absorb almost all the impact when overshooting the landing!
3. They aren't the best for riding switch on groomers. Maybe it's just me, but they seemed to hook and catch the tips when riding switch. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but after trying to go fast even on a cat track, I felt like I couldn't ride switch worth shit. I think it's because when riding switch, I try to keep my legs together, but with these skis, you have to have a wide stance to keep the tips and tails from overlapping.
4. You couldn't possibly bring yourself to hit rails with them. They are works of art, not worthy of being destroyed. Riding them ruled out all my thoughts of entering the rail park for those 4 days.
In conclusion, they work great as powder sticks, and they could definitely be a one ski quiver for those powder hounds that only ride when there's a foot of new. As for me, I'm sticking with my park skis for some controlled switch skiing and rail abuse.
For a true one ski quiver, try the LINE blend, or the rossignol scimitar. Anyone ride the Blend or the scimitar? I'd like to know if they are any good.
