I just got a pair of brand new 2009-2010 Da'nollies. I skied with them for the first time yesterday and the tops are already extremely beat up. I wasn't skiing on rocks or anything or being really rough with them. I know that it doesnt really affect the ski, but I was just wondering if most skis get beat up that fast or they just aren't meant to hold up?
topsheets do not matter.... it will seem like you beat em up like crazy your first few days on them. but then the wear will seem to stop or slowdown(topsheet chipping/scrathing doesnt really effect how the ski actually skis)
Not totally true, in most cases yes but in if you really beat up the topsheet and expose a lot of wood the ski could potentially soak up water and rot, this is a classic problem with the afterbangs, which are all wood already and all you have to do is chip through the paint. Not really much of concern in most cases tho.
^ yes yes i know this. but i was just assuming it wasnt EXTREME damage. i was guessing the average new ski wear and tear(or maybe its just me but i seem make my new skis look beat in a day)
da nollies are extremely durable, it blows that your top sheets are already showing some signs of abuse but like others have said, it doesnt matter towards the performance of the ski. Oh and don't worry, chipping topsheets should be the most of your problems with these skis. I have friends that ski more metal concrete and rocks on these than snow, and they're still solid.
