Pole question

I know most of you use really short sometimes cut poles but since I only do about 30% park and the rest pow/all mountain how long should my poles be if im 5'10''? just switching from boarding to skiing so help me out. thanks.

It's different for everybody, regardless of height. Just take the poles you're thinking of buying, turn upside down, and grip the end spike so that the bottom of your hand is on the basket. If the pole fits right, your elbow should be at a 90 degree angle.

^ this execpt put your hand under the basket as the part above the basket would be in the snow. For reference Im 5'11 and should use a 125 pole but I find 115-120 the best for powder and all mountain use.

I'm 6'1" and I use 46 abd 48 inch poles, I found decent rule of thumb is if you're hitting the park some of your time on the mountain it MIGHT be worth going down a size.

So I guess 46 inch poles for a 5'10 guy would be the most versatile?

I'm 6'2" and my park poles are 105 cm (41 inches). My powder/all-mountain poles are telescopic 105-120 cm, and I usually have them at around 110-115.

I skied two seasons without poles and after that I never liked longer poles. That's why my poles are so short.

its all preference. what those other guys said above is the best advice youre going to get. but it seems as if everybody is different. good questioN!

im 5'11'' an i use 42 but look fo telescoping poles if ur not sure. k2 has some that i know of

i'm about 5'9" and i use 44 inch poles, which is really long for most people on here. i don't really mind the extra length though, because it's handy in pow and in the woods and doesn't hurt me a whole lot in the park. 44 is right in the middle of park and all mountain recommendations for me and i like it fine.

How much pow you skiing? Cause it really sucks if you try to push yourself forward in pow, but your poles sink in so much you can't. My suggestion is to buy some nice long pow poles, and then just take some old short poles that they don't need anymore from your younger siblings for park.

i live in cali so i dont see powder that often but how long of poles would u get for powder? im trying to find one length that suites everything for me
