I have a slight malfunction

so, ive noticed that when ever i cough my abdominal muscles hurt like a bitch! any idea why this may be? its also happening to my buddy, we both smoke pot and we think this might be the cause.. but were stoners, so we dunno.. help me out..

might be a hernia

if it hurts when you sneeze/cough/laugh then go see a doctor cuz it probably is a hernia. all a hernia is is a rip in your abdominal wall, but they can get serious if your intestines start coming out of the hole. small hernias go away on their own, or they just cut you open and put a little patch over the hole, it's an hour long surgery, no big deal, not a long recovery time, maybe like a couple weeks?

if you have ben coughing a lot for the past few days then they hurt because when you cough, your abdominal muscles contract. so you have just been using them a lot by coughing. dont worry you'll be fine. think of it this way-- being sick is giving you a great work out.

when you cough you contract your ab's. So after enough coughing, you end up with a "ab work out". So they will get sore. I have had the same after having the flu and throwing up so much. It hurts more if you are already active, IE: working out, skiing a lot, or just being on your feet 24/7
