i know i just like having them cause sometimes im not in the mood to be a park rat. mine got stolen 2 years ago and i would like some good ones haa that aren't obnoxiously priced
I got mine from Moment. they had them for like $22 and I just chopped em down and used them. If you ask around I bet someone will have a cheap pair somewhere, or check the ski swaps and stuff for a pair of $10 buck poles.
Just get something cheap, they break way too often to get nice poles. Or get a pair of the bendy /flex poles. A bit more prices but they will last. "park poles" are a scam, there's no difference
hahaha I can think of a million things I would rather spend $40 on. why are people so pole dumb? go get single poles for free, cut them down even and throw some cheap ass bmx grips on them. if youre feeling really fancy paint them up all pretty and nice.
i bought $90ish CAN K2 V8 2010 poles. they are made out of aluminum and something else that makes it pretty flexible. they are super thin and light, great for absorbing shock. i basically abuse my poles so these are perfect. i was just sick of the crappy metal ones that bend so easily. only thing that scares me, would be that they would hit the ground before me, causing the to stick into my stomach, bouncing my body in the opposite direction and basically eating shit. they are actually that strong.. but i still think it worth it.
i went to the lost and found and got a new pair when I broke mine. i just need to get bike grips, black paint and find the pipe cutter. time for some steezy poles
You don't need a pipe cutter for ski poles. A hack saw will do the trick pretty nicely.
If you're using bike grips, spray some wd40 in the grip before you slide it on and leave it in the sun(if you have any) or near a heat sort for a few hours.
It'll cause a chemical reaction that will make the grips pretty much permanently attached to your poles.
It works really well. A bunch of times better than the grip glue you can buy. Used to do this whenever I got new bars for my bike. Hacksaw them in a couple inches on both sides, then wd40 the grips on.
IT sound almost retarded but it works. Makes it super easy to slip on, and it fucking holds that shit on there. Make sure you like the grips because they'll be on there tight.
I used some thin rope, and drilled a hole in the top of the bar ends that came with the grips. then passed the two ends of a piece of rope through the hole. tied them off and glued them inside my poles just like you would stick them in bars. works perfectly.
I bought a pair off sportchek.com they were like technopros I think and they're really short, but they're bombproof. They outlasted my Line poles (which broke my second day using them).
If you want to get crazy, for like 10-15 bucks you can get a set of light but bombproof metal bar ends.
Although it'd probably be a waste since they aren't gonna take a hard impact to the top ever. And unless you're going to use them for a long time it's an expense you don't need. Also probably far more likely to break your pole in half then really smash the bar ends a part. But you could get shiny if ballin if you want.
