Won't that always simply be the beauty of the smaller more am projects?
I think the idea that skiing idolizes dirt bags is fantastic, and myself look back at the old days where I had my van and skiing was all that mattered. Its wicked when a crew like this puts out a picture with so much soul and thought. It think hat more people should fight the grind and put stuff with soul out...
However, the issue comes that almost everyone eventually gets tired of the day in and day out grind with no support. Credit cards get maxed, families stop sending money, equipment breaks down, people get girlfriends who won't sleep in the van... and uncountable awesome projects or athletes who 'bum it' fall into the clutches of needing the cold reality of financial support.
The Travis Rice thing is a whole different ballgame too. Sure he is going to a level of high budget that is a total escape from reality... but its great that this kind of a thing is out there too. Audiences go see movies for many reasons, some can be for fulfilment and some can be to experience sheer awe. Both types of flicks have their respective place in the world.
I'm extremely happy that the Sherpas guys put out such a soulful project. Fuckin' A. Check.
Now I wanna see skiing's Art of Flight, except I want 5 helicopters and two planes. Skiers do stunts, so lets see the skier gap over 2 helicopters and 1 plane, while the other 3 helis and 1 plane film them.
I mean after all... skiing is about fun... so why not go to all extremes and embrace every direction?
