i have a soft flex full tilt(#4) flex and i weigh about 130 and im 5'6. is this too soft for powder? whats the bad part about having soft flex for stuff like big cliffs? what can it affect and harm?
A stiffer tongue is better for powder because you're gonna want that support that is provides since it's les likely to flex a lot like the 4 flex tongue. I hate the 4 flex tongues. They are way too damn soft for me IMO. And I'm only 6ft 150 lbs. I like the 6 flex (what I have) for everything. I may be looking into getting a flex 8 something during the winter for skiing powder.
The flex of the boot has nothing to do with where you ski. The boot has no idea what kind of skier you are or what terrain you are skiing on.
Flex has everything to do with how much you weigh, what your ankle flexibility is like, and what you are used to using. Get a flex that is appropriate for your subjective needs and it will ski everything you want it to.
