Ski Design and Homemade Skis

Anyone out there interested in getting into the microbrew ski industry? if so what does it take to be succesful. Post any homemade skis and designs for opinions as well.

not to sure, my dad build it (pretty good at the whole construction/ welding thing) and basically found a couple I beams in a scrap yard or something and is a retired firefighter so got the fire hose for free, so pretty cheap i assume, depends on how hard you wanna look for materials that are gonna hold up yet stay cheap

some parts are from an old trampoline even, just depends on how creative you get with it

That seems like a really odd profile on those skis, what is the benefit of having them so center-loaded?

Just a quick question, how do you make a ski more flexible? Is it the material or the design?

I've read that you put more or less fiberglass sheets on the tails and tips. The more fiberglass the stiffer it is. Not sure itf this is correct.

Flex is mostly determined by a few things, the weight of the fiberglass or reinforcement you use (could be carbon, aramid, etc...), the materials you use in your core, and the profile of the core.
