Help with Blind swaps!

i have been trying to get some shots on my setup, like a brittney but i suck at blind side switch ups!

here is a couple of shots of them from today:




i seem to always fall to that one side or split the rail once in a while.

pleasssseeeee help me! i need to get a good shot for my edit im working on!

You probably need more speed but when you pop for the switch up trying staying more centered. Like try to poping more straight up.

not bad man but it will be way easier once your on snow. the main problem now is speed. if you have more speed you will have an easier time. blind swaps are smooth, so therefore if you have more speed it will be more fluent and you will be getting them nice. just wait and see.. first time you try it in the park on snow where you actually have speed you will be killin it. good luck

Try and grip the rail after your switchup and land switch. Your keeping your momentum going which is making you split the rail. Just grip and keep your eyes on the end of the rail then pop

its a blind swap front 2 out.

Turn your body, lets say 120degs, and skis all the 180, that way your momentum wont keep going, and then you can decide if u want to prezel or frontswup

look at the rail behind you before your pop. your head and shoulders can be like half way through the switch up before you actually pop and do it.

Look back, and as soon as you've turned 90*, pop up and keep spinning.  This is just a broken down, description, when you do it, it should be one fluid motion.  It seems like you were doing this in a few shots though, so there seems to be another problem. 

From what I can see, you need to catch the rail when you land.  In most of the shots, you put your left heel down and this just lets you keep spinning.  Think about this way ... when you want to do a frontside spin out, you have to put your leading heel down, resulting in a spin in that direction.  What you need to do is land with your leading (left) ski flat, or put your left toe down just a little bit and grip the rail so you don't keep spinning on left.

In summary:

Your leading foot position (heel down) after landing is allowing you to keep spinning off of the rail.  If you point your leading toe down when you land, it will stop this rotation, and it will keep you on the rail.  Now I'm not saying point the nose of the ski down and dig it into the ground, it's all about subtle application of pressure.  Catch me?

but seriously, practice doing that on the ground first. pop, spin, land, dont let your body keep twisting, cause it'll cause your legs to continue the revolution.

That looks to be all you need. Bend that left knee and get that left toe down to stop your rotation. You can straighten your back knee (drop your back heel) at the same time for even more grip.

Speed isn't really the proper fix. Yes, if you go fast enough you can hopefully make it to the end of the rail before you fall off, but this isn't fixing the problem, just getting around it. Learning to actually catch the rail and control yourself is the right way to do it.

dont look down. if you look at the end of the rail the whole time, you wont travel on the switch up

you initiate the spin at the beginning. its a small rail trust yourself. set your initial 90 degree spin onto the rail harder to your momentum just helps you do the switch up. look at the end of the rail when you first pop and keep your head up the whole time. just dont look down, i worded that kinda strange

DO 180'S WHILE STATIONARY ON THE RAIL. IT REALLY HELPS WITH THE FEELING OF STAYING CENTERED AND THE GENERAL FLOW OF A BLIND SWAP.

i had the same problem

just get more comfortable with riding the rail unregular or the hard way.

then keep in your head what the next rail riding position is right before you to the blind switchup.

keep practicing if anything, you almost got it man

been trying those for a while before these few shots? looks like you've already given up on the swap by the time your skis hit pvc again.

take a break, get a fresh start. and remember, try to get your eyes on the end of that rail once you've come around, keeps you from falling off the side. more speed too as said

Looks like when you swap, you're going for a blind 2 but on the rail. You actually have to focus on the end of the rail and then re-focus after the swap. It took me forever to get blind swaps
