A few boot questions.

So currently I live in Atlanta, only get to ski a few times a year now. I am ready for a new boot.

My old boot was an older lange race boot 130 on the flex rating. I got these boots in 2005. ( I assume 2005 model.) They are just about torn to shreds and my foot has gotten wider, getting pinching now on the sides.

Atlanta has a few ski shops but the selection is limited and they do not really carry the higher end stuff that I am looking for. I am now looking for a boot with a 100mm last. I tried on the Lange rx 100. (The stiffest boot they had) The boot fit like a dream but it was just way to soft.

The rx line has a 120 and a 130. I am wondering if I order one of those boots online will they fit the same as the rx 100?

And lastly I am torn over the 120 and 130 boot.

I am trying to get a boot before XMAS because I will be some some skiing in december so I need to make up my mind quick.

Any advice would be great.

Well I to have a wide foot, and from the langes that i tried on they were very narrow. Can't quite remember what model it was. But unless your really charging i wouldn't suggest the 130's. Thats really stiff!
My suggest in boots for what i know about your foot (100 last), try the dalbello boss's. If it fits your foot right then i would highly suggest it. pretty cheap in comparison to other boots, good flex range 110-120, and just feels super solid in my opinion. This is actually the boot i layed money down on.
But other boots you might try on is the nordica line if your story carries them, or the fulltult booters (just replace the tongue for a stiffer boot). Or the salomon quests. These are all solid boots with a wider last and stiffer in general. Hit me up if you have any questions!

He seems to be set with the Line boots considering he tried them on. OP, Go with the 130 flex. You can always cut it down if you need to.

Are there any ski shops outside Atlanta but not too far of a drive? I would recommend against buying boots online, given that you don't know how they'll fit your wider foot. Most boot techs can do small adjustments on a boot at the ski area, but if the boot isn't fit correctly to begin with, you'll just be wasting money. The other option is to just wait and buy a pair when you go skiing (I assume you'll be staying at a resort somewhere since you will have to travel a decent distance to go skiing?). The last option is to stop somewhere on the way and buy boots. Regardless of where/when you buy them, they're unlikely to fit comfortably for a bit until they break in from skiing. One advantage to buying on the mountain is that you can go straight in after skiing and have them adjust the boots for you and adress any problems you may have had.

Back to your original post, I have no idea how the Lange's will fit. On a side note, I doubt that many here at NS will be able to help you with Lange products. They don't have a very commanding presence in the jibbing community. I would suggest heading over to tetongravity.com and asking them, as they are generally a more experienced all mountain community (as opposed to park/pipe) that would know more about Lange.

Thanks for the response. I tried on some Nordicas and was getting some pressure points. I guess my question is, Not having tried on the Lange rx 120, or 130 should I expect them to fit the same as the as the Lange rx 100 assuming the same shell and liner size.

Thanks for the response.

I will be in northern Michigan for xmas time and will be skiing then, also planning a week trip later this winter to CO.

The reason for the rush to order the boots is because my dad is a ski patroller and they have access to several online discounts from the manufacture.

Also did some quick searches and not really any other options around here to go and try on some stuff.

theoretically yes they should fit the same. But in reality its really tough to say. I would recommend against it, but its your money. and will also be a major pain if they don't fit shipping back and forth and what not

Same last, same fit, firmer feeling liner.

Get the 130- it's easier to slightly soften a boot than it is to slightly stiffen a boot.

thanks or the advice. Im real torn over the stiffness. im not in aa good of shape as i was when i was getting the most out of my old boots.

130 is not really a stiff flex and the RX 130 is not a stiff 130. And like I said, a boot-fitter can easily soften it if it does turn out to be stiff for you. It's an easier alternative than going with the 120 if that turns out to be a bit soft for you.

I bought the RX 130 after an extensive 2 hours of trying different boots on (thank you EXTREMELY high instep and wide feet), and the booster strap seems fine. If you want to change it over to a legit Booster strap I bet you can stiffen up the boot quite a bit. I have not skied on them yet but I am not too concerned.
