Anyone into racing/ long drives? we have a couple car enthusiasts at my school who have sdome some sick roads, including one up to the mountains in the summer. We also have a time trial challenge on a local hill, usually we have spotters at tht top and bottem on a walkie talkie, but heres a little video i did just for fun(not my fastest for sure). Post any other videos of yourself or friends driving i guess is the point.

I love my car, I'm always working on it, making it better, faster, sicker.
I've modded it pretty heavily, so happy with the performance of it now, it'll beat a brand new M5 now, I know because it happened :)

No, actually I got that point.

I was calling out StreetsofRage(sp?) due to his constant parading of his parent's cars as his own (oh, they were gifted to me etc) and the consequent snubbing of any 'lesser' brands that don't make the brand whore cut.
This is coupled to the fact that he is absolutely moronic in his use of these cars ("drifting" on public streets), his understanding of how a car actually works/common sense ('whats LSD?', I can't afford to pay 1000$/tire for my porsche), or just plain ignorance (persistently arguing that he owns a 911, NOT a 996 etc) as he rags on others for not being an 'enthusiast'...

and he does this regularly..

Next I was to upgrade turbo and add a new brake kit front and rear.
Really expensive addiction..

I was at a stop light, he was the one who initiated. Maybe his M5 just needs a driver mod. I haven't dyno'd my speed but I got a buddy who has pretty close to the same set up +/- very few things pretty insignificant mods, and he's breaking 490-500hp. Don't underestimate the speed dude, if it weren't for the fwd they would be a LOT more powerful, it's not a lack of power by any means, it's a lack of the capability of delivering the torque and hp to the road.
That being said, yes I DEFINITELY beat a fully aware driver of an M5. His shifts seemed solid and it wasn't won by a mile by any means all that matters is the entire time my bumper was ahead of his.

ok this is something that bothers me endlessly. i hear kids make the claim "yeah well my friend/some guy on the internet/my dream boyfriend/my neighbor has a CAI on his car too and he dyno'd it at 610whp so my car is right around there" every goddam day.


you CAN NOT make a power claim without a dyno run to back it up, every single car on the road is DRASTICALLY different, i could build two cars right next to each other, same make, model, year, mileage, mods, same parts and all, then put them both on the dyno and get horsepower/torque numbers literally hundreds of units apart. so your car could be making 490hp (which its not) or it could be making 230whp, but you really have no idea.

I was running 500+awhp and I had a completely built block, bored and stroked, built head with ferrera valvetrain, and a fucking turbo that would inhale yours by accident.



500hp- yeah fucking right




I shit on a speed 3 with a gt3076r pushing 330whp in my s4- and I was only 296awhp(tq wins races not hp)- and that same s4 got dusted by my old boss's dads e60 m5


you have a stock turbo speed 3- on stock internals- your no where near 1/2 the claimed horsepower you have.

The only way to drift a FWD is to be going in excess of 20mph, ebrake, then throw the car in reverse, this will pull your front wheels back giving you a RWD feeling. umm trust me i know i have '02 camry with a corvette zr1 engine, just upped the super charger, thing pulls like 800+ bhp.

HOLYYYYY fuck this went down hill fast. can we all just talk about, idk, liking cars and stuff? its an 02' celica gt-s with an injen CAI and a magnaflow exhaust. Its not a super rocket but the VVTE-i pulls pretty hard, its fun.
@wiki (and other) i know my driving style was bad, but honestly, do you think thats how i would drive if i was being serious? i was just shitting around and wanted to make a video, i know how to drive when im being serious.
And as far as giving racers a bad name, i think its more the dumb fucks who crash into things/ people, rice out their cars, and are generally dumbasses in general instead of being safe that give people that go fast a bad name.

anyways back to the flame war: I THINK AUDIS AND SUBARUS ARE THE WORST CARS EVER BECAUSE THEYRE NOT AMERICUN, WHO WANTS TO FIGHT ME ABOUT IT

pshhh you can "drift" FWD cars like crazy. yeah its not a real "drift" but if you know what you are doing you can pull off some of the biggest slides ever in FWD cars. just basically scandi flick it into everything and bring the rear back with power. ive never owned a FWD car but ive had so much fun in friends POS FWD beaters, and rental cars.

oh and you dont need an LSD to drift. if you cant get a decent slide going without an LSD, you probably couldnt pull off a decent one with an LSD.

umm....no. oversteering does not equal drifting.

you can 'slide' with a non-lsd car (hell..you can slide anything with wheels..), but it will be uncontrollable, and last as long as your car has directional momentum.
nevermind the fact that you will experience one wheel madly spinning and the other locking and dragging.
you can't control a drift like this.


an lsd is what prevents this from happening, and gives your car equal traction so that your independent wheel motions won't fuck you by upsetting balanced momentum.
ask anybody who is somewhat serious about drifting. this is common knowledge.

eh, when your doing it without an LSD its kinda hard to say what exactly qualifies as a drift. if the car is sliding and one or both tires are spinning and you are holding it, thats pretty much a drift. may not always be considered a" proper" drift. but carrying a slide through a corner is good enough. im not into drifting enough to give a shit. call it a slide, drift, whatever, in a lot of cases its harder to do without tires spinning. power and an LSD just gives you that much more control..

and ill definitely debate that its uncontrollable, if you are a good driver you should be able to pitch a car into a corner and control the slide to the exit. if you cant control a slide without an LSD you probably shouldnt be "drifting" anything.

shit ive got a couple friends that drift, and one started without an LSD and both recommend it. its even in the drift bible! if that means anything.

oh and ill be cool too..

Ive always heard that drifting is when the rear slip angle is higher than the front slip angle. if you are sliding a car from entry to exit, holding it and controlling it, im still going to call it a drift. i dont care if im right, or if the "hardcore" drifters dont think it counts. i like the word better than slide so im using it. slide makes it sound like a mistake, drift makes it sound like its controlled.

Because!!! Idk dude just think about it. but when you have to leave the Ebrake on the whole way through theres no way to control where you are going to go and correct it if you have to. The rear is the one that swings out, and when you have the rear wheels spinning, you can control how far the car spins with the amount of power you give those wheels. In a FWD car you can swing the Back out, but as soon as you start giving the front wheels power its gonna try to correct the slide and you'll end it there.

you definitely dont need to keep the e brake on. you dont even need to use it at all. sure there may be some situations where you you might want to use it to initiate the slide. but if you have a well balanced car, you should be able to initiate the slide with how you turn in, scandi flicking or whatever the car needs to get some rotation then you keep that rotation through the rest of the corner. its the same with any RWD or AWD car. you dont slow down then mash the throttle at turn in to get the tail out. you go in with speed, initiate the drift at turn in, then use throttle, usually around the apex to control it.

same kinda idea with FWD, except you maybe carry a little more entry speed, and might be a little later to power. initiate the drift as you turn in, the slide scrubs speed as you near the apex, then get back to power whenever the car needs it. and you can control how the rear comes back with how you manage your throttle application. pretty damn controllable actually.

i really think you have the wrong idea about how you can get a car to slide around. you can get a car to slide at huge angles controllably with no wheelspin.  its all about using the cars weight and momentum to initiate the slide, then using steering/throttle inputs to control it and bring it back. 

here, watch one this, its a driver named jean ragnotti, and he bosses the shit out of fwd cars.  keep in mind, this is rally mostly on tarmac, not some drifting for style points shit, so its not huge ass angles as thats usually not fast especially on tarmac. but there are some definite "drifts" in there and butt loads of control. this guy can control a drifting FWD car only having stage notes, better than a lot of people can control their purpose built drift cars on a circuit they have driven hundreds of times.

I know the owner of that car actually, it was build in golden,co. and yeah he is running a larger set up, I never claimed to have 500hp dude, not once, I said it wasn't impossible to be running that. All I said was I beat an M5, like I said also, it's possible the car just needed a different fuckin driver. Either way it happened. I also dont give a fuck what you think. You didn't exactly 'pwn' me either but alright haha
