Was their a reason why freestyle skiers have tall tees and large clothing, or is it just a matter of personal preference?

Personally i believe "biggest size fits all"

Oversized clothing originates from modern prisons. They only had large sizes so when the younger guys were locked up they looked like their clothes were too big for them. The style later came to symbolize crime and rebellion.
