i skied my punx for the first time saturday and they were really flexy. its was weird cause I'm used to a stiff ski but i think ill get used to it. any way how do people like these on jumps and all that? any issues with how flexy/buttery they are?
i have the 09-10 punx and they are soft, but they are stiff when they need to be. they are really light though so they kinda suck for all mountain, but it is a trade off cuz they are awsome in the park
havent skied them personally but alot of my mates have them. seem to handel well on jumps (freind learnt dub front on them and cork 9's) they are really light and buttery to be smooth on rail but have enought stiffness underfoot to deal with big landing, jossi well came to our local indoor slope and he said it was the best ski has ever ridden
think your really like them after a while all my mates are inlove with them would have bought a set but everyone has them at my local slope and want to be different
i love my punx so so much. this is going to be my third season riding them and i absolutely love the flex/flex pattern. they're super buttery in the tips, but stiff enough and poppy in the tails. i've hit some pretty big ol' booters and they hold up absolutely fine. i'm not a small kid either. i'm 6'1" 185 and i feel like they're the perfect flex for me.
anyone else with advice? i landed back seat the other day and i completely washed out i wasn't able to hold it out with the skis. i think i just have to get used to them.
I had the 09-10 and i was in the same boat as you. i rode super stiff skis before but you do get used to them. t took me a couple weeks but after that i loved them such a fun ski there good for everything! youll learn to love them once you ride them a couple more times
The punx are probably my next set of ski's! Iv heard nothing but good things about them, For park skiing. But isn't that what there for!?! I'm lookin for more specify RAIL ski, and they get mentioned slot
Ski flex has a lot to do with personal preference, rather than how "good" of a skier you are. For example, Jossi and Elias ski normal, off the shelf Punx.
well i'm 5'5" or 5'6" and i'd ge the 173 or whatever they are. i understand his choice of the 180 size. plus i would think it could be more flexy as it gets longer no? assuming you're able to flex it.
it's 164 173 or 182. i think a lot of shop guys who don't know a lot of twin tips want to give people short skis cause it'll be easier for them to control. plus the punx is center mount anyway so it might feel a bit shorter.
yeah I would of loved to get a ski at like 176 to 178. But but 173 is just too short, I am still growing. 182 is a little tall. but it is a very light ski. center mount. Im not a beginner either. The guy at the shop told me he had rode both. and he said i should get the 182.
Oh and just to let everyone know Im almost positive the punx are not 182. They are more of 179.5. I measured them they come out to 71 inches which is 179.5cm. And Im taller them then by about half a cm. so it makes sense.
Jossi and Elias and almost everyone else ski normal Punx. Some of our guys are on top secret prototypes though. I could tell you more but I'd have to kill you.
i dont hit too big of jumps and like a shorter jib ski so i got the 164. im 5 foot 8, but only 135 pounds so yeah they may a little short, they will suite my preference more. i know kids my height that ride 180's and wont ski anything shorter, but thats what they like. its all about what you like. and yes, they are very flexy and poppy. youll get used to landing more centered though, give it some time!
going to trade these in tomorrow for armadas. not sure about Thall or AR7s. anyone have advice. on which to get? the stiffness? are the Thalls to soft like the punx? any help would be great!!
just curious because you said you were going to "trade them in" and I don't know of many shops that would let you return a mounted and skied ski, other than a rental shop.
