First of all, to block out pain you need a high pain threshold to begin with. But talkin to a few other shredders, many people in the competitive world actually use methods to block out pain. I know my method, plain and simple. I had a limit of pain set in my head, when I reach it, I keep pushing that limit a little further. Now some people say blocking pain is stupid, because pain is the thing that tells you to stop whatever you are doing. My idea of pain, is to push through. The method of blocking out pain has worked numerous times for me. From my snapped arm, to my osgood. What method do you use to block out pain?
I do distance running, and around fifteen minutes of hard running in a race your whole body wants to collapse and give up. To block out everything you have to stay focused nugga
i find that i am super comfortable at around 15 mins, but thats just me.
it goes damn->`damn!->`fuck!->`wheeze->`ahhhh the rythm!(13 minutes it feels good)-> no feeling for an hour->`blisters if i am not taping my feet-> fuck(hour and a half to 2 hours)-> wall sometime a while after.
if i have gel packs, the wall seems less of a problem, (placebo?)
Well I only stop when I can't physically continue. Even when I blew my knee I got up in like 5 minutes and made my way down the rest of the hill (slowly but I still did it).
just dont be a snatch, you can only push it so far though without being stupid, the older i get the more i realize being motcho is retarded....last winter i fractured/ broke 3 bones in my, becasue i didnt want to be taken down by ski patrole i took 2 more runs to get to the base-one of he worse decision i could have made. Basically i ended up having a mini break down in the lodge, i wasnt able to walk or stand up or anything. If the pains to bad basically dont be to tough, just get some help.
what not to do - take 26 advil. My aunt's crazy-competitive brother took that many at an ironman trying to beat my uncle and ended up in the hospital for a while (shocking, I know)
I Truro prevent as much pain as possible before I go skiing. Good breakfast and a stretch before hand. Followed by oranges and exedrin for lunch to combat the drive home pains
i always get shinbang real bad after the 1st week my hill opens, i deal with it until i can't get forward enough to hit jumps, that's when it's time to take a day off.
I dont feel shit until once im off the hill or out the rink etc. Ive always been like this, but im also a brick shithouse whose never been hurt in my life through 5 years of AAA hockey and 3 years of hs football.
