Remounting skis

I recently bought a pair of ARVs and like them but I sort of am thinking I'd like to move the bindings back.. i mounted them a couple CMs up from recommended, but am wondering if i should move them back a bit.. theyre bordering on short for me, and i wouldnt mind losing some tail.. but will moving them back make a noticeable difference in terms of soft snow performance, and sidecut?

also, is it a bad idea to remount them a couple CMs back in terms of putting holes in the ski?

im not sure about ski performance but i know that you can def mount back a couple cms and be fine, some people have mounted right over old holes just with a different hole pattern. so you should be fine with going a couple back.

I would say, mount AT LEAST 1.5 cm away from your current holes.

so now i just would like to hear whether it will make a noticeable difference in nose length and sidecut usage

this applies to any ski:

yes, more tip = better soft snow performance

and mounting it at core or closer to it will give you better use of the sidecut.

is that the answer you're looking for?

yeah exactly.. im wondering if it will be a noticeable difference (that is, worth remounting) if it's only a couple inches up from recommended right now

i wouldnt personally, it prolly wouldnt make that big of a difference, and the wear it would put on your ski is not worth it IMO and since the ARV is rather wide, its not like its that big of an issue in the soft snow

lets be serious, if you remount and you get the shop to use hole plugs and epoxy in the old holes, there is no problems at all basically

BUMP, interested to hear people's perspectives on whether it will make a big difference or not. my feeling is that it will, given that it would put the center of my foot in the "right" place regarding sidecut and give me some more nose length

I ride mine at 2+ from recommended so -5 from true center and they rip the whole mountain apart. And they still are really fun on jumps and most boxes but any technical boxes or rails and I imagine it would get annoying having them mounted them there. Thats my personal experience but I don't think a remount for allmountian performance would be worth it. But if it really bugs you just do it so you can focus more on riding and enjoying shit.
