Avalanche Beacon on Ebay..

I'm looking for a beacon without raping my bank account. a found some old ortovox beacons that look pretty nice, and they have great review. Still, they look old.. i wanted to hear you guys about this. It's gonna help alot , thanks!

Hmmm. "Lightly used by Mammoth Mountain ski patrol." If it's a patrol beacon, it's probably got a lot of hours on it.

I mean, that beacon is probably gonna work just fine. But maybe, just maybe, it isn't. Let's face it, a beacon is a tool intended to save either your own life, of the life of a friend. "Life-saving tools" is not exactly the category of purchases where you want to scrimp.

My advice - scrimp on your skis, your bindings, your boots, your outerwear and your goggs, but don't scrimp on your avalanche equipment. You're making a purchase that might save your life one day. Do you want to entrust your life to a used Ebay purchase?
