Hi there!
As I'm sure many people on this site have done before me, I'm going to try to start my own clothing company. We have this subject at school where we're allowed to start our own business (no financial crisis in Norway, hehe), and me and one of my best buddies are going for it!
Now, I know that this isn't going to be easy. Trust me, I'm not one of those people who think this is going to be a walk in the park, and I'm ready for whatever challenges may come.
So, we've got the basics covered. We have a come up with a brand name (Polé Polé Clothing) and style that we´re aming for. Polé Polé is a Swahili saying that means "chill out" "take it easy" "slowly" and so forth, and that spirit is what we´re all about communicating.
In the beginning, we're trying to make it as easy as possible for our self. No custom sowed garments (we don't know anything bout that stuff!), just plain colored tees with grafics. Even here we're keeping it simple. Our first "line" will be four long/short-sleeves that will all look something like this (we have an other photoshoot coming up soon to get the two last photos):
As you can see; simple. Just one large, square photograph printed across the front. Not even need for complicated, custom cutting. If possible, we would like to have our own custom label in the neck and a small logo at the back as well, but this is not necessary.
I know there a lot of different ways you can go to get this done:
- Buy plain tees at wholesale rates, get them printed locally/buy your own printer (after some research I've landed on the conclusion that transfer-printing is what we need, but do correct me if I'm wrong)
- Find a company that can do everything for you, start to finish
- Go through a clothing agent
- ????
So, now you know where we stand! If you have any thoughts/advice/feedback, please do share!
PS: If you want to follow our progression; like us on Facebook (although we haven't really gone publicly with our page yet, because we didn't want to build any hype until we're actually sure this is gonna become a reality): https://www.facebook.com/polepoleclothing
