New skis + bindings for x-mas, ideas???

Right now i have 185 '09/10 Line Anthems. I'm about 6'0 and enjoy long skis.

I'm thinking about keeping my Anthems as skis i can keep as centremounted park/fuckaround skis, and getting something for big mountain etc.

I live on the east coast right now, but will be in the Alps this x-mas, and plan on moving to BC in a year or so, so some sort of fat-ish big mountain ski would be nice... Maybe a bit of a rocker or whatever, but i'd also like to be able to shred up the hardpack every now and then.

Something stiff-ish would be nice too... My last 2 pairs of skis have been K2 silencers and Anthems, so it'd be nice to have something not so flexy.


Anyways, ideas would be nice. Thanks.

^I've been told both of those skis are pretty soft. I went to my local ski store, the guy there recommended the Salomon Shoguns... anyone know anything about those?

I wouldn't call 4frnt Turbos soft.

Turbos are a great call. Bacons are soft and they will scare the hell out of a big guy trying to ski aggressively. I would highly recommend turbos over shoguns and bacons

the atomic bent chetlers. they have rocker but not like super crazy, and they still kill on hard pack. i actually skied them for most of the day today on groomers

These seem pretty dope. I've never skiied on anything with a rocker... how much does having a rockered tip/tail effect carving on groomers etc.?
Also, would you centremount the PBJs? I already have a ski to fuck around in the park with, so im not too concerned about centremounting.

Also, i'd like to be able to giver on groomers and carve properly... Don't need to be doing slalom turns or anything, but i like to rip down a nice groomer every now and then and actually have a solid edge to push against.

189 Surface One Life.
They'll handle anything that you throw at them, amazing float. 112 in the waist. I love mine. They are stiff, big rocker, but will still be able to handle the days that you're not in soft stuff.

I'd recommend Salomon STH 14 or 16 Drivers (for both bindings)

I've been told that they ski really well on the boot midsole mark with a centered stance.  I mounted mine with Dukes 1cm back, because I like to ski with a forward stance, and drive the front of my boots pretty hard.
According to 4frnt, the midsole mark on the sidewall, is the center of the sidecut.

FWIW, I'm 5'11" and 190lbs, and I don't ski switch.

So I'm torn between the Turbos and the One Lifes... Whats the difference between these 2? They seem reasonably similar from what i've heard.

The shape is probably going to be the biggest difference. One Lifes have an 8 degree three rocker. Which is quite big. Makes amazing float. Yet I (and many others ) have found it incredibly versatile. It's stiff flex makes it incredibly stable at high speeds too

Cool. How does it hold up when you're charging on hardpack? I'd like to still be able to crank out some fast GS turns and still get some response.

I found no problem on hardback. I will still able to crank out massive turns at high speeds. Like all skis, they don't like ice. That's all
