Though we don't talk about it, we'll all face this moment. It will be many different things for many people: a serious injury, large developments in other parts of your life, or just a random thought that lodges in your cortex long enough to shift everything around it.
But no matter how much we want to push it away, the skiing that we do on Newschoolers isn't sustainable on a body. We revel in it now, and that's proper, but I don't see anything wrong with appreciating the inevitable change that's going to happen to me. Isn't that one of the beautiful things about skiing, that grandmothers doing stem christies and their kids in tall tees can both experience joy with roughly the same stuff?
Personally, I'm stoked to dial back my park skiing this year. Way more interested in cruising around, playing in pow, and leaving flat landings, icy runouts, or hard metal behind.
