Making a Kendama?

Hey guys, so I have woodworking this tri and on top of my other projects I thought it would be cool to try and make a kendama. The only problem is I have absolutely no idea on how to go about this. Since I first learned about Kendama through NS I figured that at least some of you might no what I should do. So help my out NS.

good luck, my dog destroyed my brothers kendama and im trying to tell him  to make a new one.you should just need a lathe and a drill press. tell us how it goes

you will have to look up the official dimensions online (cup depth, diameter, length, etc...)

my homie is on the Kendama USA team and messed around with the concept of a ceramic one, check it out, its pretty cool.

That was sweet man, to bad im not in ceramics. I think I will find the demensions and then try and build it in two pieces like that ceramic one. I have all the tools I will need there, once we get further in the tri I will give it a shot. Thanks guys.

I feel there are two choices.
A.
Be extremely skilled with a lathe a carve it out on there.
B.
Hand carve it.

Possibly C.
If your schools has a CNC machine you could possible cut it out with that but i really don't know how well that would work because I've never used one.

But either way its going to be a pain in the butt. I'd probably consider doing something else. Message me if you need tips or ideas.

I cant find it now, but on youtube there was a video of a guy who made a kendama out of metal in his metals class

Yeah ok thanks man, I might just try and hand carve one as a side project if I have time, do you have any other recomendations of something I could make?

Well to start the small intricate stuff is always way more fun than big projects. They also cost less, and if you mess up its really no big deal. I'm currently working on the writing box below. But try making like a little box with some drawers or that opens through the top. Or tables are usually pretty straight forward projects with really low risk but a very large finished project.

My homies up in Edmonton, Canada have a lathe machine they use. Check em out called Terra Kendama's on facebook. Guarantee they could help you out. And I think there is a lathe that has an attachment where you can identically carve out what you need to carve (such as the ken with bottom cup and the two other cups)
