A quick word on blocking ads

So I know nothing about video editing. I have never done it before but I want to learn. Does it make sense to get like Lightworks or Windows Movie Maker and learn on that and then once I've mastered those programs, I can move to Adobe Premier or does it make more sense to not waste my time learning a simpler program and just learning Adobe Premier in the first place?
[The cost of these programs does not matter :) arrrgh! ]
