Detuning..?

Im going to be receiving my filthy riches within the next 2 weeks...
Im on the east and once the mountains open up I willl be hitting rails immediately.
I ahd chronics from 2 years ago.. and I didnt hit rails since it was my first years of skiing. So, the edges were already a little worn down. But since I wont be doing much all mountain skiing and will immediately be hitting rails, should I detune them?

Absolutely personal preference.  My suggestion is to detune underfoot  but leave it at that.  With the rocker on the Filthy Rich there is no need to detune in the tip and tail.

We detune the rockered sections at the factory on all our skis. We do not detune skis underfoot, I prefer you guys to have a blank canvas and file away as much as you'd like for your own personal preference.

That being said, detune them underfoot before trying a rail, catching a frontside edge sucks.

Most people I know will detune any rockered ski from the tips and tails to the contact points.

Detuning would definitely be a good idea, catching an edge on a rail is never fun.

use a sand sponge from home depot. they are 1.95, medium and fine grit, they detune your edges perfectly because its sooo hard to screw it up, not like a file where you can take too much off at once.
