Best editing program?

Getting a new go-pro and this wil l be my first year editing, so im a noob to this...any suggestions on the best editing program?

avid...you got it man!

id you were to start new...id probably suggest getting the creative suite package from adobe...hard to beat that....even though im a die hard final cut fan

I use windows movie maker for all my stuff. It's pretty good but takes some time to figure everything out

Depends on how much money you have, but if possible I would say get final cut, it is awesome

The new Final Cut X is OK, but basically like iMovie, balls compared to the old Final Cut Pro 7. If you are on PC use Sony Vegas, if Mac, try Adobe Premiere. With the internet everything is free.

I'm using Final Cut Pro X for all my edits, and even though there have been a lot of criticism of FCPX, I like to use it!

what?? ive used avid a few times and man the inferface sucks! final cut pro is mainly what most production companies use now. i would suggest that... the newest one is only 299? i think and its just as good as final cut pro 8 but the interface is a little different. just takes like 30minutes- an hour to get used to

Final cut for cutting and everything and use the free 3d program that gopro gives out for slow motion (cineform). it can conform 60fps to 24 and its FREE!

Vegas Pro is what I use, I love it now I actually understand all the shit. Shame I don't have a powerful computer to make editing faster though.

if you are good at editing and on pc go for adobe master collection cs5.5. if you are on mac go for either adobe master collection cs5.5 or final cut pro

I use AVS Video Editor and it works fine for beginners, and is easy to use.

man your getting slot of bs advice. If your actully serious into editing, I would suggest premiere pro cs5 or fcp 7. Personally I don't like Vegas at all. If your just looking for someting to throw together quick And don't really give a shot how it's edited, then go for adobe premiere elements 9 or somthog easy to use. I'm a fcp guy so I would suggest that if your on a Mac

the programs affect the way you can edit the shot. for example, if you wanted to motion track a title into the shot Windows Movie Maker would not work, but if you just want to throw together a bunch of clips and add some music a simple (and cheap) program would better suit this kid.

What do you think of Final Cut Pro X compared to Final Cut 7? I recently coped Final Cut Pro X but I've read up on comparisons and they're mixed.

film major here, here's some actual advice:

AVID is the (film) industry standard for the most part. (I don't know what the SKI film industry standard is, prolly FCP) Avid is expensive as fuck, but worth it if you know how to use it. If you are a student (like at the U of Utah, where I go) you can get the package deal of Avid for 299$(?), which is a steal and a half.

that being said, Final Cut is a great program, its just that since Final Cut X came out and blew camel dicks it's clear that Apple is going to stop developing editing programs in general, and will only get worse. So torrent Final Cut 7 or something and it'll work fine for what you're finna do. But if you're really into the latest shit, and don't mind a steep learning curve, Avid is upgraded like five times a year.

also, you can download Avid for free from their site; 30 day trial to test that mafucka out.

I've used Adobe Premiere, as well as Sony Vegas for awhile, I'm not really into either of them. The Adobe suite is tight though because of After Effects.

imovie is imovie, don't expect too much.

(PS, I happen to like final cut best, I still use 7 pretty much exclusively, but that's because I've used it the longest.)

^hope that helps. Remember, don't blow a ton of money on a suite since you're a beginner. You might find that editing kind of sucks.

Nah dude not at all, go to Piratebay and search it up there's thousands of torrents you can get for it so just choose one.

i have never really used FCP X much at all. from what i hear its just imovie on steroids. FCP really isnt that hard to use after you get used to it. i reccomend that.
