so  friend of mine is planning to live in the wilderness for about 3 years (till hes 18) in a hut that was built for trekkers. He plans on leaving sunday morning before his parents wake up and just leaving a note. Another one of my friends is giving him a ride into the mountains and helping him pack a few things back, i was thinking about helping pack stuff also. Ive been getting into trouble for dumb stuff latley so i was woundering if i could get in any real trouble for this? and what do you guys think about his plan?

just make sure your in whatever will you 15 year old friend has. other than that, id say youve done all you can do

yeah just truned 15. Ive thought about doing this a few times my self but then i thought about the future, getting a car and moving to Jackson but he wont listen I even told him once I move out I would support him till hes 18

Please give us day by day updates on this, even if the updates are "no word." Also, would you give us some details? Is he taking a cell phone? What supplies? Do you know his plan for keeping warm and resupplying? What state is this hut in? I also know it is illegal to live on public land long-term. Does he have a plan for evading authorities? I'm betting three days on this. 15 is really young.

he skis and he said hes tired of school and not being able to ski every day thats why hes doing it now, also if he does make for a while i told him i would come visit every other week and bring him food and supplies

Plus - is that really fair on his parents? Think about it.... on a scale of 0 to retard - this is registering a solid 9.9....

this, is your friend retreaded? he probably has a much better home right now than he will in a couple of days, but i doubt he will last not even a month especially if he doesn't have the right equipment

So his parents took away MW3 and now he's making rash decisions. Sounds good to me. But seriously, if he doesn't know anything about hunting, fishing, wildlife, or basic survival skills I'll give him 3 days before he comes crying home.

it's like this book series, except he's probably not going to have a great time, get a bird for a pet, be able to trap, have his parents over to visit and then live there too.

take the hint: fucking stupid idea. he's 15, this isn't some stupid rebellion act, he's not gonna come back or be seen by his classmates as one badass dude, people are going to think he's an idiot.

Honestly, let him go. It'll be a learning experience. He'll come around in a few days, especially with winter starting.

But this really is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. If he tries to stick it out he's going to probably end up dead. Does he know ANYTHING about wilderness survival? Anything at all?

A 15 year old kid, who was probably sheltered his entire life, planning to run away and live on his own, self sufficiently. Plans to leave prior to winter, and not tell his parents.

Not a chance of anything going wrong there.

I to wanted to try something like this when i was like 16 or so. I hopped on my quad, followed some logging trails up into the next valley, stayed there for an hour, heard some wolves and saw a moose and I got scared and went back

I think this is a troll thread but w/e.  It would be incredibly irresponsible for you to allow him to do this, and possibly even criminal if you help him.  If you really think he's serious about this, you should anonymously tell his parents about his plans.
