Your opinions on Flash websites?

I know, I know, flash blows dick and is dying out. I'm working on a site right now in flash (first time I've ever used it) and you can do some cool animations for sites that I haven't figured out how to do in HTML/CSS, use different texts besides a select few that you use in HTML land, etc. Do you think it is worth continuing or should I just stick to the good ol (somewhat boring) HTML.

Also, is there such a program to animate using HTML5 that would be equivalent to something like flash pro?

You should probably just learn how to use html instead of making a flash only website

I know quite a bit of HTML, but I feel limited. maybe I don't know enough of it?

flash is on its way out

i am a cinema major and i am in a required web design/flash class that they are going to re construct from the ground up in the next year or two.

i hate flash. my final is to construct a full working website with over 30 animated features using variables/conditional statements and so forth.

anyone use hype? my professor is trying to work that into class in conjunction with flash

The only time i use flash is for rollover/quick animations needed for basic site function.

but even those can be outdated by divs and tables

But other then that i try to stay to html/css/java .

Flash for mobile is dead. There's really, really no point in bothering anymore.

Also, with @font-face in CSS3, you can host a typeface on your FTP and use it in your website, I think all major browsers support it.

haha, I found Adobe Edge (it's in beta right now) and its pretty simple, but I guess it is what i'm looking for.

I would definitely stay away from flash for the very reason that it is dying, if not dead, and you'll be stuck very far behind on the trends if you do use it..i would get into the html5, css and then get into java and jquery. Good luck man

IDK what 500px runs on, I think its flash. I like it. I don't have time or knowledge to build a site, i just wanted something clean and easy that I could upload my photo's too in full quality. The link is in my sig if you want to check it out, zbphoto.ca.

dude those pics are sick!

your site is solid too, the only thing i would say is that it takes a little while to load the pages but then again my internet sucks.

Thanks! Its a template so I can't fix it, and I upload my pics at full size / full quality to get the best colours.

true true, if you get the chance, you could upload thumbnails that link to the full size image so the pages load quicker but I can understand that it would be good to have the full size/quality pictures load right away
