Critique my unfinished edit

Figured id ask for a critique before i finish my edit. Give me any criticism. This way i can make it good before i finish it. Also give me any ideas angle wise. +k for help

For the clips that you had to work with I liked it. I think it's good, the only critique I might have is to watch the length of some of the cross desolves. Maybe shorten a few of them?

Nice work man!

-The time lapse in the beginning didn't really have any connection to the rest of the video. I would probably cut it and try to find another skiing filler clip to open with.
-If you keep the time lapse, make sure you stretch it so that it matches the aspect ratio of your video.
-Go lighter on the cross dissolves/additive dissolves. I try to avoid them whenever possible. Most of your cuts between clips could be clean cuts rather than dissolves.

other than that it was really good dude, i like your shots

I really liked it, for the most part colors were really good, but in a few shots the snow looked a little blue to me, especially compared to the snow in the sunny shots. shouldn't be too hard to fix in color correction, and other than that you have a really good start

definitely a good start, pretty much what everyone said with the crossfades, make them a lil bit shorter and the time lapse was neat but i wasn't feelin it for the content of the rest of the edit. angles and colors looked good tho

Like will said. If you ditch the cross dissolves and go for a well placed clean cut your piece will be much stronger.

thanks, all of you were at 10 or you are at 10 now. ive ditched just about every cross dissolve, i think ive kept 1 but made it really short. and ill get a different timelapse or some other filler for the beginning. As for colors, ill try to fix that, i am colorblind so it is kind of hard haha, but ill do my best

0:06-0:11, those 2, 0:15-0:19, and 0:20-0:21 to a lesses extend though, mostly the ones in the shade, all the stuff in the sun looks spot on

Which program are you editing with?



If you're using final cut (other editing programs have this feature too i'm sure), do you know how to use the dropper tool in a 3-way color corrector?
