Rumor is that the faculty at our school is creating fake facebook profiles to keep up on students' doing outside of school, party scene etc.
Here are some of the profiles for reference:

Obvious fakes: profile pictures come up on reverse image searches:

Likes and interests are extremely generic, place of residency? L.A.? typical.
Oh yeah, and these profiles only attempt to add kids from our school...
The hard part is proving that these profiles were actually created by staff. This is mostly hear-say at this point, but multiple students have claimed to get some of the more lenient teachers to admit to the doings of our administration. Students have been punished for what they made available after these accounts were created, and it's hard to feel bad for them. Making illegal activity such as underage drinking public could only be the work of an uneducated high school student (off topic).
I'm personally outraged, and I know that anything put on facebook should ever be considered private, but really?
If a student did approach administration, what laws would arise? are there any pertaining to creation of fake identities online, specifically to gather "private" information? Should administration even be approached?
discuss.
