Whats a good iphone app to track your speed skiing?

BAsically looking for a good somewhat accurate iphone app that doesn't cost a shit load to track speeds on the slope. My buddy had one for an iphone 3 cant seem to find it but we hit like 69mph on it. Im pretty confident i can go faster than that now i just need to know.

Anynoe know of any app

Why is 100kmh so unrealistic?
Average speed on a alpine course is around or a bit over 100kmh with much faster in steep sections, why is it so unbelievable for someone to go into a straight tuck on a steep hill and not be able to go that fast?
The world record is like 251.4 km/h

i bet that too, if you got a stiff ski which i dont have know. you can easily hit 50 going straight down. you ever see a vid of tj or someihng hitting chads gap he hit like 77mph. and he still undershot it

now, i dont know much about ski racing, but i do know you can reach 100km fairly easily, i would even bet you yourself have gone that fast on skis. unless youre just that bad.

I have this, I think the full version. It works very well, you just pop it in your pocket and check at the bottom of the hill, and it will tell you your max speed (so you don't have to look at it while going 65), along with all the other things. I tested it out in my car one time, mounted it on the dashboard, and it was accurate to +or- 1 to 2 mph, and it even did well keeping up with sudden acceleration

I have a speedometer app on my droid thats super accurate but needs satelite connection which requires line of sight to the sky so it doesnt work in a jacket. no satelites ever above springs anyway so

when tanner cased chads, he left the lip of the jump at 57 mph, switch, on a relatively sketchy run in. i know he is a lot better than all of us obviously but fuck i think i could just go that fast down a groomed hill, straight. your sense of speed is skewed i think. i know it looks fast on the highway but on snow you would be surprised at how fast you go. do you really think every singe person in this thread is crazy? cuz its just you

Probably someone has said this but car GPS's record speed, so that's what I'm going to do. I don't have a smartphone because my old shitty phone is still working so I don't really have a need to update it.

I took my GPS on a plane once then showed my friends I was like "look I went 300mph!" Yeah I felt super cool haha.

I'm pretty sure all those apps give you like a birds eye speed though, so you are actually going even faster than they say. To get your ground speed you would have to measure the angle of the slope where you were going the fastest. I'm sure there's an app for that. Then you would have to divide your gps speed by the cosine of the slope angle.

Probably not, because the wind resistance from all those tall tees makes it damn near impossible, but that doesn't mean the guy you originally yelled at hasn't you fuck.

oh I bet the skiing specific one does take it into account then. I know the speedometers for everyday use don't though. someone could speed match their buddy with the two different apps and then we would know for sure.

i use sports tracker, it maps all of your runs and gives you like 10 other stats including top speed and average speed. my top speed at bolton was 57 and 50 switch /claim. this app was for the droid

2. There is a difference between explaining yourself and sounding like a douchebag, which you do. You quote every post that simply disagrees with you and a.) make some sarcastic remark and b.) you try to sound like an open minded person by saying "it's just a difference of opinion lets leave it at that," but you proceed to say "i say the majority of this site has not gone 100 on skis, wanna fuckin fight about it? No?, then shut the fuck up." Yes thank you for allowing us to have a difference of opinion while kindly asking us to fight about it then telling us to shut the fuck up. 3. The reason I called you out on being a tough guy is because that is exactly what you are doing. 4. The shift key is there for a reason, I may be 18 and younger than you but I actually do know that the word that follows a period has a capital letter in front of is, as well as proper nouns (these are words like the word I).

You're being a straight up idiot.

Stop being such a ho and realize that a lot of people on this site are good skiers, it is VERY realistic that if you bomb a steep, straight, run you can reach speeds upwards of 60mph. While not every person claiming they have, has, it's not an extraordinary feat so I would believe that a lot of people have hit those speeds.

Your argument went like this:

"No, you did not hit those speeds"

--> A lot of people prove you wrong

"Now I'm going to try and be a sarcastic snot" in response to everyone who calls you out



It's a lot easier to just be nice to people and say, "hey, maybe I was wrong."

I used the whistler app to track my speed once and got 65km/h. It's an ok app but kind of confusing to use sometimes. The trail map portion was very hard to understand :p

Knowing that ~100kmh=60mph

On a road bike, it's a fair assumption that the average skier on NS can go 30mph in a short sprint on a flat road. Going twice that fast down a groomed slope is not that far out.

on a flat stretch with the wind calm I just did 31.6 mph on a fixie... solely on pedal power.

On my downhill bike I've been followed by a car at over 70

now that children, is a true claim.

Ive gone thirty on a scooter. I know its not as cool a feat as yours/the unicycle, but bear in mind it was a 20$ scooter from walmart with octagon shaped wheels from when i skid on it and burn the rubber. Everything was vibrating like a nymphs dildo and my hands went numb halfway down
