Asymmetrical Twin tips

Do you guys think if asym twins are mounted center will make their performence worse. The guy im buying my skis from (salomon suspects) said that mounting them true center would make them hard to handle. I ski park and groomers. I want my skis to be center for better tricks and grinding but will doing this make them harder for me to handle downhill

I think you'll be fine mounting them true center.   Most skis aren't recommended to be mounted true center but a lot of people do and have no issues.  I have a pair of Moment PBJs that I mounted true center and they ski great even though they are recommended at 5cm back.

Spark notes: you shouldnt have a problem mounting them true center

thats what i told the guy but he said the performence downhill will be a little off ive never rode on asym skis so u guys would have to tell me whats better

i have no problem ridding my skis true center..and i have the suspects...they ride just fine

doesnt bobby ride suspects a little behind true center? maybe not all the time but in his grand bizarre segment a few shots look like he has them mounted back

It's not very noticeable. I have my Chronics mounted center and they perform great on groomers. Mounting 1 or 2 cm back is alright too though from what I've heard.

I have 4frnt TNK's mounted true center. I don't have any problems on groomers or just regular skiing, plus riding switch is so easy.

may as well jump in here, im thinking about getting el reys or ar7s, where should i mount? core center, or dead center? would there really be a noticeable difference?

I've only ridden asymmetrical skis and I put them all at -1.5 from true center, seems to work perfectly fine for regular and switch.

yea the guy said if you mount center it might ride "squirlly" what ever the fuck that means haha. But you said they ride well down hill, like blacks and double black diamonds would be fine going down?

yes i ripped down lutsen mtn (if your from the midwest you no its the steepest hill by far) and i had no problems i mean every thing double b lacks and all

it only makes a difference when your carving because the you wont be pressuring the part of the ski where the apex of the radius is supposed to be (the narrowest part). if that made any sense

Due to my bindings breaking, I had my chronics mounted centered for a while and 2 back. Skiing 2 back and centered is pretty similar, I skied the same with both

why is this in SG and not gear talk?

First off, you shouldn't buy suspects, they are fucking terrible. Mounting a non-symmetrical ski center just fights the sidecut, there for not allowing them to turn as well. If you are just riding the park, its not as big of a deal, but if you venture out onto the rest of the mountain, you will notice it.

Symmetrical skis: dead center
non symmetrical: -2 to -3

They will handle worse because they arent symetrical. Mount those fuckers somewhere behind center and they will ski way better otherwise youll be leaning back constant to get some good turns in. Mount them back you can ski switch fine otherwise just get a fucking symetrical ski. You ski in fucking jersey it really probably doesnt matter that much

im mounting my skis center, i dunno much about the suspects but i know the afterbangs are asymmetrical so thats why im doing it. I would think center mounting would just take a little getting used to thats all, (i work at a ski shop and thats what i've heard) But if your really on the edge I know the marker schizo binding allows the binding to be moved 3cm forward or backward if you wanna do park or pow so i dunno i'd look into those. i guess you gotta try center mounting and see how they feel, thats what im doing. If you don't like em centermounted redrill em, as long this isn't the third time they've been drilled your all ghood

well I'm getting salomon sth 12 bindings because if you get salomon bindings it makes the warranty 2 years instead of 1

you don't even have to break them, as soon as it touches a rail (and are able to notice it) the warranty is void.

Salomon's warranty does not cover the following :

- Damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect or normal wear-and-tear.
- Damage caused during storage.
- Oxidized or rusted components, such as hardware and edges.
- Damage resulting from tuning machines, grinders or waxes, including solvents, cleaners and polishes. - Improper fitting or sizing of products.

- Any type of impact damage resulting in cosmetic/top edge damage, i.e. top sheet chipping


doesn't say anything about grinding damage

to protect against manufacturing defects like say delaming after 1 or 2 uses. Think about it, your jumping onto a hard as shit piece of metal and grinding your edges on it...

Banging ur skis against rails and boxes is classes as impact damage and WILL void the warranty, the edges will blow out on suspects in no time from sliding rails. I know cause I've had them bust out on me

It falls under "impact damage" and "abuse" and every ski manufacturer has the same policy. Warranty means the company produced a product incorrectly and it failed because of their mistake. You smashing a ski onto a metal rail does not constitute a warranty, it constitutes you smashing a ski onto a metal rail. And no company can make a ski that will continually survive that kind of abuse.
