Salomon suspects

I am buying some suspects and the guy at the store said i should mount the binding about 3m from true center because they are asym skis. I ski park and groomers, i told him i wanted them mounted in the center and he said it would make the performence suffer. Do you think this is true? I think if i mount them back a little it would be harder to do spins and grind what do you guys think? PLZ HELPPP

did u all ready buy them? if u didnt dont.... there not durable at all (there a good ski, but just not durable) but if u did buy them i would mount them 1 inch back or 2 cent. it going to feal a little more centerd.

2-3 cm's back will be all good... Especially since you probably don't ski switch most of the time.

yea i dont ski switch too often. but will this make them harder to balance on rails

if you don't ski switch often, then I doubt you would notice the difference 2cm or so would make to rail game. probably best not to mount center unless its a pair of skis that are pretty much only for the park

Sidewall protector IS shit, trust me, i own a pair, 3-4 weeks of rails = wrecked edges and sidewall

If your only going to be doing park mount them true center. Otherwise 1-3 cm back is good

suspects are some of the poorest constructed skis on the market. literally every other pair of skis in that price range will be a better choice. ya they're a sick jump/pipe/competition ski, but expect your edges to be gone after literally only dozens of rails.

support on3p, moment, armada, bluehouse, atomic, k2 line or almost anyone else.

yea but i need a ski thats all mountain for terrain park and downhill. And aren't the new suspects like reinforced.

I have last years Suspects and they held up pretty well, mind you I wasn't going super hard on rails or anything but I was hitting them.  The edges are kinda dull and I got a couple chunks smashed out of them but I just filed them down and there fine now.  I liked them alot for groomers, even with dull edges they hold a carve really good and skiing switch was no problem.  Get them centred if you think it will make a difference but I would go with what the shop dude said just cuz its only 3cm or whatever

as of yet ive to see any proper long term durability reviews on the new suspects as well... there new, but there have been many people who have had problems with the durability of the suspect in previous years so unless salomon have made made major changes this year i suspect they will continue to be suspect for durability but most shops will replace them if the fault is with the ski (but not due to rail enduced damadge) see the what to expect from your warranty thread for a better idea of what is warranty-able if they do go bad. hope for your sake and anybody else whose bought them they have fixed them this year.

yea i hope they fixed them. i know they put some carbon fiber wire attaching the sidewall making them more secure now maybe that would help. but the season just started and nobody has really has used the new model so don't just expect them to suck like they did last year, I'm sure salomon knows about the problem and they probably fixed it

i have had two pairs of suspects (they gave me a new pair after the first ones broke) and neither of them lasted a full season. my recommendation, switch those out for a pair of punx or ar 7s.

For the Op.

Your choice of ski for what your looking for is a good option. Its a stiff directional twin which makes it better all mountain then allot of softer/rockered park skis. The full camber gives the skis alot of energy and pop which make the fun on hardpack. Begining in the park they are a good starter ski if your looking to get into jumps. The large pop will help you learn jumping both onto boxes and on kickers. There very stable thanks to the stiffness which will help you land your first tricks.

Durability wise the problems of old suspects (4 years old I may add) has gone. We sold alot here in whistler last year and only had 1 brocken pair which were replaced for free. I saw one edge pushed in but it was only what would happen to any ski if the edge hit an upright. I had a pair and a pair of armada Thalls and both looked the same damage wise at the end of the year.

The only thing which is not great on suspects is slower buttery jib stuff as they are a stifer ski, thats why I also had the Thalls, but at speed and in the air the suspects rule.

see guys he knows what he's talking bout. So can u still butter on them even tho they are stiff? or no.. and since u have seem to ridden them, wats ur opinion on where to mount them?

Yes you can still butter them, its just that they butter at speed. So doing big tail presses over the knuckles of jumps rather then slowly buttering into a rail, which can still be done it just takes more effort.

I have mine centered but thats as there my park ski. If I had them for all mountain id come 2-2.5cm back from center. They will carve better ride powder better and still be good in the park, just not quite as good switch as a centered ski.
