Knee Binding Mounting Problem

Alright, so I ordered a pair of knee bindings. I like the idea of a lowered chance of ACL injury. Here's the catch no one told me about. Knee binding only authorizes certain dealers to mount their bindings, and you need a specif Kneebinding Jig to mount them.
I'm from Tahoe, so my dad was trying to get them mounted for me there and sent down to San Diego (where I go to school). Not one store in the greater Tahoe area has a Knee Binding Jig yet (what a fucking joke, it's almost december). So he sends them down to me here in SD. I've called every REI in Southern California, all of which have yet to receive a Jig from Knee Binding.
Apparently no one answers the phone over there at knee binding, but I have seen them respond to posts on here. So what the hell guys, where can I get my god damn bindings mounted to my skis, this is a joke. I'm a little livid as all over FB my homies are shreddin key and brek and mammoth and bear, even boreal up at home. I finally am free enough from the damn college-grind to get a day or so in and I have everything but no store can mount the fucking bindings because you decide to require special equipment, and then you never send the stores that you approve the equipment they need. All the stores say they were expecting them a while ago, but they haven't heard anything from you guys?!
What's the deal? I'm about to return these and overnight a pair of looks just so I can get on the mountain. Come on, gimme a time frame!!!

thats why you don't get knee bindings. other bindings are probably just as safe

Hmmm, i have no experience with Knee bindings, but (depending on the shop) they may be able to free hand it if they're good enough/if you sign a waiver. At least I know they do that with other companies, not sure about the Knee mounting pattern.

sike, the owner called and overnighted a jig to rei. i know you guys will hate on them for whatever reason, but seeing as EVERY kid i grew up riding with has blown at least one knee, i will use these. enjoy not walking when your 30 =)

the dumbest part: they don't offer any demonstrable advantage over an FKS type, and they are right/left foot specific.

But that is what they prove and what they are legally allowed to say. Rossi/Look aren't even allowed to say they reduce knee injuries.

i dont really understand ur wording but im interested in this, are you saying that knee is able to prove that it reduces knee injuries so they are legally allowed to say it whereas rossi/look are unable to prove this so they are not legally allowed?

Yes. Kneebinding has proven they reduce the possibility/probability of ACL injury with their binding. Rossi/Look have not and therefore cannot claim they can, which is why they don't.

then what is the indemnability list for? all bindings that release reduce knee injury.

Indemnification means a shop is covered by a binding manufacturer's indemnification policy (for lawsuits and such). Indemnification has nothing to do with reducing knee injury. If a binding is not on that list, the binding is no longer covered by the manufacturer's indemnification policy and that's why shops will not work on them.
What Kneebinding is showing is that they are the only ones who specifically reduce ACL injuries. This is the key point- they release like all other bindings but they have a specific feature that reduces ACL injuries. Rossi/Look do not claim to specifically reduce ACL injuries.

it was a rhetorical, everyone knows that the reason bindings are kicked off the list because they are deemed unsafe. why? because they are old and don't guarantee a release. Why does it matter if it releases? because that's the function of a binding that protects you.
also, you cant just switch out "knee injuries" with "ACL injuries", there are many more parts in a human knee than just an ACL. an ACL injury is most definitely a knee injury, a knee injury isn't necessarily an ACL injury.

I'm not going to say that the bindings don't help against knee injuries, they probably do. They are just not designed for the park, which is why I posted here. I'm not going to go pro, but I'm far from the worst in the park and these bindings just did not hold up to my needs.

Can we get some specifics? What didn't they do?

they just didnt stay on. i fell (due to releases) more times than ever. i nearly broke my tailbone popping out of a backflip, but that was only one of the times. you can read up for more specifics, but every time i would do anything i would release. at "suggested" settings on every feature, at "cranked to the max" just on jumps. it literally was like skiing with ducttape attaching my skis to my boots, i returned and bought a pair of fks and all the problems instantly vanished
